--big Question on a Charter BULLDOG--?

I never saw a Tyler T-grip that would fit any of the Bulldogs I owned (3 of them). As a matter of fact I didn't know Tyler made a grip adapter for the CA Bulldog. That being said, I believe the answer to your question would be No. I don't think the configuration would be the same and it certainly wouldn't be as comfortable to shoot as the Pachmayr.

I have the wood grips without the T-grip. I have thought about getting a T-grip and they do make one that will fit. The wood grips with or without the adapter will produce more felt recoil but they are easier to conceal.

I've got the Pachmayer grips on a 3" and found it much more controllable to shoot, and the concealment hasn't affected it at all. I've also got the 2.5 inch SS with the original grips (rubber very similar to Pachmayer) and found those to be a lot more comfortable to shoot than the wooden 3" standard grip, and I also got some rosewood grips for the 2" and those too are somewhat difficult to control recoil in full power loads. Of course I'm 70 years young and not near as stout as I once was.

While I have the original wood grips because I think they are easier to carry concealed I am thinking about also getting a rubber set. Does anyone have an opinion if the Pachmayer vs CA rubber offer an advantage of one over the other?

This is mine and it’s on my hip now in a Tucker & Byrd OWB pancake holster. The ammo goes in each vest pocket. Quick Strips to the left, speedloaders in the right. I’m about to head to town for a shopping trip wearing this under a vest. The grips are Pachmayr Grippers. For this gun, they are the bomb! They are oversized, cushy and make shooting the Classic Bulldog a joy. For me, controlling recoil trumps tiny grips.

I have no problem concealing it when going to town. No, it does not print. I dress around my carry, rather than force fit a gun to what I’m wearing.

I have ordered the CA rubber grip for my Bulldog Classic. It was less expensive than the Pachmayer and covers the back strap. I will let everyone know how it feels. It was shipped the same day I ordered the grip and should be here tomorrow.

Looks nice,big grips.

I have Eagle Secret Service on mine. Looks great, conceals better, and I don't have to worry about carrying a reload because after 5 shots I've got an arm off.

Herrett's Shooting Ace grip is by far my favorite on a CA Bulldog. Covers the back strap, add some length to the bottom, and is thin.







Works fine with a Tyler T-grip adapter...This a S&W K-frame one.



Pachmayr Compaq is very good but is heavier than wood.

Nice Charter Arms Bulldog and some great photos too! I use to switch between a Tyler T-Grip adapter and the factory grips (mostly for carry), and the Pachmayr Compac grips (mostly for the range).

My Charter Arms rubber grips arrived Thursday and I had a chance to try them out yesterday. They fit well and do not seem to print any more than my wood grips. I shot 5 rounds with the wood grips and then installed the rubber grips. My first impression was the felt recoil was better but not a whole lot better. Later I realized I had shot 40 rounds [all I had loaded] and my hand was really no worse for the wear. With the wood grips 15 to 20 and I am ready to go to something else. So I will carry with the rubber grips and keep the wood ones in my grip box.

Used to have a Bulldog and tried several different grips. The easiest shooting was a pair of Compac Pachmayrs. The funnest to play with were a pair of Barami hip grips with a t adapter. Had to wrap some tape on them to keep it from twisting while shooting.

I've considered some Barami grips for my Bulldog.

I carry a J-frame S&W that way at times.

Can't decide to do it or not. If I put a set of CA Undercover grips on there is grip frame metal edges that are not covered.

The grip frame on my Bulldog is slightly larger than the grip frame on my Undercover and early Pathfinder.

I'm concerned the Barami Hip Grips would not fit well.

I have a feeling I'm going to end up getting a grip or two more for my Charter Bulldog before long. Mine came with the factory rubber grips which are fine as far as recoil and comfort are concerned, but a little big and the rubber is a little bit "grippy". I've since installed some slim checkered OEM wood grips bought online that I like a lot and that's what the revolver currently wears. For concealed carry that's the way to go I think. These two grips give a significantly different trigger finger presentation though, and each assumes a different shooting style. I'd like to try the Pachmayr Compaq grips as well as the full size wood grips some day. (I'd also like to have a 3" barrel Charter .44 some day, but that's another matter.)

I've tried a few grips on my CA .357.
The full size Pachmayr grips are my second favorite at the moment. But they are sort of comically large. Also not a fan of how they can shift around the grip.
The stock full size grips, the one originally on it, is what I use. It seems to be a nice compromise between controllability, concealable, and allows use of speed loaders. Currently my #1.
