What was the first semi auto handgun you ever shot, and what was the first one you purchased?

My first ever semi-auto pistol shot was fired from my Dad's Colt Huntsman .22lr. He bought it new ages ago and still has it.

My first semi-auto purchase was an Iver Johnson TP-22 in .22lr right after I turned 21. I still have it 29 years later...

SAR B6P for both questions. No longer have it, ended up with a real deal CZ, but that B6P was a great handgun for the money.

First one I fired was a friend's Hi Power Mark III. First one I bought was a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911.

In 1987, the year I turned 21, I bought myself my first handgun, a Taurus 66 in .357 Magnum. I learned real quickly how expensive trying to learn to shoot with that could be, even with .38 Special ammunition.

So, about two or three weeks later, I was back in Oshman's Sporting Goods for the Ruger Mk-II Standard they had there. That, of course, became my first fired-and-owned autoloader.

I still have both guns.

Best guess would be Dad's govt model 45 for the first shot and I think the first I bought was a Ruger P85 when they first came out.

First one I'd ever shot was a Ruger Standard, and the first I owned was the hi-power that I still carry around today

Man this is hard. I vagely remember some ruger 22lr, probably an early model mk1 or 2 target pistol. I also vaguely remember something like a bobcat, and that jammed a bunch.

My dad never had any semi auto pistols until I gave him the first one that I bought: a full sized colt 1911 series 80 parkerized. Reliable pistol, I just can't hit anything with a 1911, my hands are too big.

I bought a gen2 glock 20 after that, still have that one and CC'd it last week even.

1911 when I was in basic back in '74. I really disliked it and still don't like 1911s.

Astra 80 in .38 super around '84. Surprisingly good reliable gun. Got tired of trying to find .38 Super and traded it. Could not tell you what for, I went through a lot of wonder 9s in the 80s before settling on a Sig 226.

Just a simple question.

What was the first semi auto handgun you ever shot, and what was the first one you purchased?

First one I shot was a S&W Sigma a friend owned.......... I think. It might have been a Ruger Mark III that another guy owned.

First I ever bought was a Stoegar Cougar in 40 S&W. I sold it to my dad years ago and it's the one handgun he owns.
Centerfire: Colt 1911 in the 70's
Rimfire: Colt Matchtarget in the 60's

First bought: Browning BDA .380 in 2003

First semi-auto I shot was a buddy's Glock 23. First one I owned was that same Glock that I bought off him a couple years later when he decided he didn't like it.

Coincidentally I ended up selling it for the same reason a few years after that.

TZ75

Always read good stuff about the CZ75 but this was in the early 1980's before the wall fell and CZ's were not available

I think the first one I shot was my uncle's Colt Woodsman .22lr.

First one I bought was a Browning BDM 9mm. I should have bought a .22lr first... would have made me a better shooter faster.

1911 in the Marines and S&W M&P.

The 1911 in the Marines was so worn out it put a bad taste in my mouth for semiautomatics.

..... I just can't hit anything with a 1911, my hands are too big.

Dumb question and slightly off track....
Have you tried something along the lines of a Para Ordnance P14? I have the same problem with 1911's.
My hands aren't huge, but, Maybe it's just the shape, I dunno, cuz I'm happy with smaller pistols, too. But, I love my P14!
