Gun Show Prices

Another word about gun shows. I've been going to gun shows for the past 20 years or so and the biggie in Tulsa twice a year for the past 12-15. I have a ball in Tulsa and have bought several guns, lots of reloading components, ammo, gun cases, sling shot ammo, reloading equipment, gun cases, quarts of vanilla, ice cream, pizza, knives, knife sharpeners, gun cleaning stuff, etc., etc. Hey guys, don't let the prices prevent you from having a good time. I could make a list of complaints, but life's too short to live on that side of the equation.

I've only been to a couple gun shows in the last 5 years but I used to go to damn near all of them in my area, even if I didn't intend to buy anything. $10 admission has always been worth getting to see a lot of firearms that I wouldn't find in any gun shop around here. I've bought a few guns at shows but the only one that I ever paid sticker price for was a Mosin Nagant. And that was before prices got crazy. I think I walked out with a rifle and a spam can of ammo for $150. I can hardly find just the spam can for $150 today, just 6 years later.

I like gun shows. I usually go with one or two things in mind that I'm looking for. I know what they're worth & I know what I'm willing to pay. If I do happen to stumble across those items, I'll bargain shop and haggle while I'm there. I want a good price, but I don't expect anyone to sell at a loss. I understand that the dealers are there to make a profit & I don't expect to see smoking deals at every table.

My two MN gun shows I attended this Fall were pretty disappointing. As described above, the deals have seem better online.

I searched for brass and a few older firearms I have been looking for. I saw very little of interest. Good news is I had the time and the entrance fee was only $5. Come to think of it, maybe I should have looked closer at that old ugly Savage in .222.
