True. Sometimes old and ugly is more acceptable than young (newly designed) and ugly. I just look in the mirror to keep telling myself that.

Looking at both of those, it's clear the new one could take a longer (front to back) magwell adapter. .45 ACP would be obvious, but what else could fit?

That's what I was wondering. There'd be no reason at all to make the magwell that much longer than a 9mm magazine if they didn't have something else in the works... you'd think.

While the mechanical sights on this PC Carbine work very well, for accuracy testing, I mounted a Leupold Mark 6 target scope, to evaluate the accuracy potential of the rifle. The PC Carbine has a section of Picatinny rail integral with the top of the receiver, so mounting the Leupold was quick and easy. I fired five-shot groups at fifty yards for accuracy, and the PC Carbine shot much better than expected. Every group fired, with every type of ammo tested, grouped five shots into less than one inch, every time. The Buffalo Bore 125 grain +P load grouped into half of that, every time. This little PC Carbine is accurate!

I wanted to quote this from the gunblast review. These were 50 yard groups he is talking about. If there is any truth to this then it becomes infinitely more interesting to me. I have been looking at this for the role I bought my hi point for, a steel plinker to take advantage of cheap 9mm range ammo. If they truly are capable of this kind of accuracy that moves it up into being a varmint control and small game hunting rifle that I am currently using a 22 rifle for.

He had a picture of five holes touching, I think it was from Buffalo Bore +P?

6 lbs 10 oz unloaded... that's pretty heavy for a PCC.

Really ugly but not a problem. Like others, I'll give it at least 6 mos. to see if there are recalls or problems.

for a 44...they may not want to put the effort into the R&D.
For a 10mm or even a more oddball caliber like 45 WinMag...that would be a hoot to have in a carbine like that.

I'm so thrilled. I can barely contain my joy. I've long desired a carbine chambered for a common pistol cartridge that was aesthetically displeasing to the eye and made with lots of plastic. Ruger has saved fhe day.

I wondered about that, but would they feed reliably? I like my Rossi lever gun for that.

I saw an advertisement just today for these. I'm sure we will be seeing other calibers soon. At that price point it might be a tough market grab against AR's.

MSRP of $650 ; I can buy the Ruger AR5.56 for $460 or a Colt for $650 that is the same overall length and near 1/2 lb lighter. I like the Ruger company and have many of their firearms. But I can't think of a single reason to buy this one at this price. Now if street prices are in the $350-$400 range like the Ruger American bolt guns I'll buy one.

Commonality of ammunition and magazines with a handgun some folks own.

State laws that make the AR556 not a viable option for some folks.

Smaller footprint for storage (same length as an AR, but much, much shorter top to bottom).

9mm is about as cheap as ammo gets without going rimfire.

Suppressing it for folks who are into that.

I had one of the older PC9s that some one had tacked a AK flashhider to. While I thought it was a great rifle, it did get a little heavy once you stuck two spare mags in a butt cuff and at least a 15 rounder in the well. Was a great shooting little rifle expecially for a home defense weapon. I'm definitely going to need to get one of these in my hands to see how it feels.

Thanks for Ruger, I guess I'll have to upgrade for my P95 finally.......

Someone already posted a link of pre-order pricing of $130 below MSRP. I think it wont be long and street prices will be $475-ish. This looks it will be a really fun gun. My hope is a 10mm version will be along soon.
