Thoughts on .327 SP-101?

I am revisting my 327 SP101s with a new outlook on reloading for them. They don't have to be prohibitively shocking in their report, if one is a reloader. The 327 Federal fired cases can still be used to exceed 32 H&R performance without the high pressure or even supersonic velocity. I download small 357 Magnums to something proportional to the gun and application, so I can do the same with 327 Federal and have a six shooter. I don't just go to a lesser cartridge the gun is capable of firing, because I reload and rarely use any case but what matches the stamping on the barrel. For me, it's really just another "reloader's gun".

I've been very interested in both this cartridge and gun. As a guy excited about reloading and having the flexibility of caliber I'm fairly certain I'll pick up a 3" next. Did some quick searching for price and finding them in the $700+ range. Is that consistent with what you guys found yours for?

Have a 4" GP and an LCR. The GP is fantastic and a pleasure to shoot, the LCR is..unpleasant, I suppose. Not atrocious but not a range gun. I would assume the SP is somewhere in between.

I betcha that LCR with .32 magnum loads would be the bee's knees.

That is what's in it now, until I get some of the 85s to try, or just load some 100s a little milder.

I've bought two of the SP101's with the 3" barrel in 327 Federal Magnum. Paid $540 out the door for each one. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore has them for $514.99 with free shipping. I bought local since the price was so close and I really like to support the local gunstores.

On my LCR I've replaced the factory Tamer grip with a shorter grip for conceal carry. I carry the 32 H&R rounds in it. With the original longer grip the 327's were rather stout but not as bad as shooting some pocket pistols. The trigger on the LCR is very smooth and I'm really hoping Ruger will make some LCRX's with a 3" barrel.

The second they do, I'll buy one. I carry my SP101 (4.2 inch) regularly and proposed to my fiancee with an LCR in 327 Federal instead of a ring.

She loved it. Yeah, I found a keeper.
