Guys we're hit with reports of squibs, bad accuracy, poor materials, just bad quality in general from the remanufactured ammo companys.

But for some, reloading is not an option and reman ammo can be even cheaper than steel cased stuff.

So are there any GOOD, well established companys making re-loaded ammunition that can be expected to be at least safe to fire? If so, who?

I've heard great things of freedom munitions... I forget who their parent company is but they aren't new to ammo if memory serves me.

I don't shoot ultramax anymore because it is so dirty... Do they use black powder? (;))

I used FM before I started reloading. Never any problems in .380, 9mm, and .45acp.

Freedom Munitions is fine.

Out of the countless 9mm reloads I've purchased from them and put through various pistols, I could count the number of dud's on one hand.

Another Freedom Munitions user here. Both for rifle and handgun. So far, all has gone bang with the correct amount of bang. :)

They have a store front not far from me, so it's natural to stop in and pick up a few boxes every now and then.

+1 for Freedom Munitions, never a problem in 40S&W, 380 or 38 special. Bought from them until I started reloading.

Haven't used much, myself; just not much price difference in my area.
I've had good luck with Georgia Arms. The FMJ isn't much cheaper, but their JHP can be.
No difference from factory loads that I can tell, they just use once-fired brass instead of manufacturing their own.

Octane Munitions: I bought 250 ea. of their 300 BO in 125 and 220 gr. remans. I've only shot a little ove a 100 rds. so far. Both super and subsonics have functioned in my pistol. Seems clean enough. Found them off ammoseek.com

Reman = reloaded..........just someone else pulling the handle, most likely on a Dillion1050

I don't bother with the reloaded stuff. A local distributor routinely has PPU or S&B 9mm for less than $9 a box, or brass .223 for less than $6. Yesterday I picked Aguila .22's for $19.90 a brick, and PPU .30 Carbine for $14.95 for 50.

At the shows, they charge more for the reloads than I can get new factory ammo for.

I've had good results with Freedom Munitions as well. Thousands of rounds fired in 9mm, .45, and .38 special. They are often the cheapest available by a few cents/rd, and run shipping deals on every major holiday.

I've found reliability for Georgia Arms and Atlanta Arms to be good. In pistol calibers, Ultramax is okay but a bit dirty. Black Hills is the top. I think that Black Hills used to run an exchange reloading program where they would swap new reloaded ammo for fired used brass of good quality with a bit of a discount. I never investigated the claims. Maybe that was another company but I know it came up in the past on forums.

One you rarely hear about is Zero. I used to live near a shop which required you to buy their ammo to shoot on their indoor range. After a couple complaints of pricey ammo they brought in Zero. I loved the stuff. Their brass was all off of military or police ranges, so mostly Winchester or Remington. Their bullets were good (and sold to reloaders, I bought some and liked them) and their loads were very consistently even with “new” stuff. I kinda miss that stuff, at 9 bucks a box for 38s or 9s I stocked up. Then I hit a brass and bullet mine and am just now getting to the bottom of my bullet buckets.

Which calibers and volume are you looking at? On something like 9mm or 223 there probably just isn't that much savings to be had to make it worthwhile on small purchases for range fodder.

www.georgia-arms.com

I'm usually able to get it locally at gun shows and their factory is in driving range. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if I'm near the west side of Atlanta I'll stop in.

I REALLY like their handgun ammo and have shot a bunch of 223. I can do better on hunting loads though.

It might not be worth the effort if paying for shipping.

Lucky for me, there is a local gent that reloads .38 Specials with LSWC and sells them through a local store. I made good use of his ammo for 2 years with both my GP-100 and a relative's SP-101. Now I reload my own, having gotten the dies for .38/.357 to go with my .243 and .380 dies.

I will 2nd that Georgia Arms is good quality reloaded or re-manufactured ammunition whichever you want to call it. I reload most of which I shoot but have shoot a few thousand of their reloads. Their Canned Heat packages are usually competitively priced and they are at a lot of the gun shows here on the east coast. I sometimes get 9mm or .223 from them for less than I can reload it for. Just have to watch for deals.

I have had a great deal of luck with Bite The Bullet.

So far all the ammo I have gotten was super clean and ALL fired as was expected.

And accuracy was spot on too.
