I was sorta looking over my pistol inventory when I realized I had "pairs" of pistols....that is the same gun in at least two sizes...like big and small, short and tall.

Didn't do it with malice of forethought...but it just seemed to work out that way. I bought a Beretta PX 4 in compact, liked it and got a full size. Or got a Walther 99AS and decided the compact would be great to carry.

Here's the list:
S&W M&P 2.0 5" and Shield.
S&W 5906 and 6906
Walther P1 and P4
Walther 99AS and P99ASc
Sig 226 and P6 (a bit of a stretch, but I sold my P229)
Beretta PX4 and PX4c
9mm 1911 Colt Gov't. competition and Star BM (another bit of a stretch, but at least "cousins.")
And both Sig 320 and 250 with different size grip modules in compact and subcompact sizes.

Wondering if anyone else is either deliberately collecting "pairs" or even triplets (full, compact, subcompact) or has found out it just sorta worked out that way.

What I don't have a smaller or larger versions of is: my BHPs, CZ75 Omega, Beretta 92FS, or my S&W 39-2, although I'm looking for a hot deal on a 3913 or 908.

Bought a used .40 Sig P229 DA/SA locally. Apparently the .40 S&W is no longer an adequate round ;). Really good deals on these, and some good examples on Gunbroker <$500.

Found a P228/229 derivative: the Sig M11 A1, to share 9mm ammo with the CZ PO1.

Had five Makarovs: two Bulgy, two EG and the .380 Russian commercial version.
Decided that collecting handguns for me is a dead-end, they aren't enjoyed by anybody else who visits the house, sold most of the Maks (+ 1,700 rds. of 9x18 ammo) plus extra AMD-65 to help fund these modern handguns after attending a 2-day self-defense class with a US/Israeli instructor.

Not really "pairs" but like others here I have both full size 1911s (Colt Governments), and slightly smaller versions (Colt Commanders and an Officers Model ACP). Would like to get a Colt .380 Government to go with my Colt Mustang. Now that would be a pair!

Two Ruger Mk-II pistols, a 4.75-inch Standard and a 5.5-inch Target.

Two Heritage Rough Riders, a 4.75-inch "regular" and a 3.5-inch "birdshead."

Two 1911 pistols, though from different makers. One is a "GI-type"; the other a commander-type.

Two Kel-Tec pistols, a PF9 and a P32 (these get carried together.)

Two Charter Arms Undercovers. I add these even though they are essentially the same because they both performed the same duty, at around the same time, as BU/OD guns, one for me and one for my dad, when we both worked in law enforcement. We didn't even know each other much at the time, reconnecting several years later. His was made in 1966 (same as me) and mine in 1987 (I do also own a third stainless Undercover made in 1985.)

That's it for those that share the same caliber (the KTs were included because they ride together.)

I have the original Springfield XD-40 in all three sizes. Tactical, Service, & Sub-Compact.

ETA: I guess I have another set also. Three N-frames all setup as similar as I can, same frame, grips, sights, cylinder release, although they are all in difference calibers with different barrels.

I prefer to carry full or duty size pistols, but also love to have a compact/subcompact for deep concealment days.

Currently I only have 2 parings.

Glock 17/26 - most common carry combo
1911 full/commander/ultra/widebody - ok I have all the sizes for 1911s.

I used to have a Glock 21/30 combo and a Sig 229/239 combo.

Also CZ P07/P09 but paired them down for other options.

I have 2 Colt Combat Commanders in .45 ACP, one stainless and one blued. They keep my Officers size Kimber .45 company. If none of them feels like the right size I break out the Sig 938. I'm not really looking for one but if I ran across an alloy frame Commander size .45 I would own another .45.

Sig P226 / P228 / M11-A1
Sig P6 / P239
Glock 17 /19
CZ 75B / P-01

(S) Colt Government Model 380, (M) Colt Commander Lightweight 45 and (L) Colt Government Model 45

(S) Colt Magnum Carry, (M) Colt Official Police and (L) Colt New Service

Triplets: (M) FEG PJK9HP, (M) FEG PJK9HP, (M) FEG PJK9HP

1. Glock 35, 22, 23, and 27
2. Sig 220 Full and compact
3. Government, commander, and officer size 1911s
4. used to have a 2" and a 3" LCR in 38, but i sold the 2"
5. not the same but a Dan Wesson 9mm 1911 and a sig p938 (and a p238)

Hmmm.. I guess I do have a few "sets"...

6" 1911 .45 Super, 5" 1911 standard, 4" 1911 "Commander."

G 19, 17, 34,(17L is coming soon, still waiting for the 10-day here in CA.).

K-frame S&W: 2.5", 3", 4", 6".

Ruger standard 4.5" and Mk II Government target 6 7/8".

629 classic PP 6.5 and a 629 Mountain Gun.

And..the ol' Dan Wesson M-15's; one in a pistol pac case with 2",4",6" + 8" VH barrel/shrouds, and the other with a 3" EWK VH barrel/shroud.

(Does the M-1 Garand and the M-1 Carbine count?)

EAA witness, wonder finish steel 10mm full sized and compact. I have 40 barrels for both. I guess pics would be nice right?

Just a Glock 19 and a 17L. Bought the latter on a bit of a whim when I saw a deal locally. I like that the triggers feel somewhat similar, but the 17L is considerably lighter now that I put a ZEV spring kit in it. I might go back to stock on it and try it out in the 19 to see if I like it better in there. Gotta love tinkering!

I've been considering a 4" 629. I like my 6" 686 but I like the aesthetics of the shorter barrel. Plus I've never had a 44mag before so that might be fun.
