It’s time to grow the collection again, but what to get?

I’ve held off for a while but the time has come for a new gun
it’s also my Favorite Number, it being the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything

But what is the question ?

As far as recommendations IMHO would not recommend a Glock for pocket carry. You need a Sig p238 (or a p365).

But, but, but...
There are so many on my bucket list!
:D

My bucket is rusting out and can’t hold water (nor does my bladder). Practicality has long prevented me from buying a gun of my dreams. But when on occasion I did break down, the gun sits in a vault, e.g. Colt Python, and waits for the day that I finally kick the bucket.

Buy what you want when you can. But remember that happiness is not always a warm gun.

Well, I am now in the G43 scenario.

And I am disgusted, yet thankful, with & for myself.

The thought of going around with any sort of “micro” pistol that is engulfed by my hand gives me the creeps. This is not how it should be. I have, for 45 years, trained my mind, body, spirit to have a 1911 CMD, a 4” .357, or a G17 or 92fs on my side or in my hand.

Yet, I am thankful to be here. At an age that many old, dear friends. and loved ones are gone and can not enjoy the remaining years with me. Thankful that the bypass surgery worked and the leukemia treatments worked. And knowing that when I do go out “on the town” that there is a weapon I can shoot well with, conceal very well, and comfortably navigate around with.

And as a previous erudite poster said - 2 is 1 and 1 is none.

However any of us choose - may we seek guidance from Providence, believe in our Rights, Never give in, and Always Fight the Good & Righteous Fight.

Perhaps my way of saying to the OP - you can not choose wrongly.

So, what’s the recommendation here? AR/G42/G43?

If you have an AR and you don’t use it much, I’m not sure why you would want another.

Between the two Zyglocks. That’s a hard choice. The 42 is a great little shooter. For me, it was love at first shooting.
The 43 took a little longer to find the love. At first, I didn’t like it, but after a few range sessions I have found the love.
So, both. I would choose both.

Back when just starting out.....always tried to come up with a scenario then choose the best tool for that job. Sooner or later...like Gunny we ran out of scenario's even remotely plausible (T-Rex invasion? Got it covered!) so things became 'oooohhhh....shiny!' or just to buy something from my LGS because buying guns always makes me feel good. If you're having trouble deciding what gun to buy....maybe get some more ammo? Never can have too much ammo......

Get a percussion revolver from Uberti or Pietta (steel frame not brass) and develop an appreciation for firearms history, as well as making your companions choke and cough! 1851 Colt Navy .36 caliber or 1858 Remington or 1860 Colt .44; they are all fun!

I finally got an Ultralight 6.5G upper for my Daniel Defense for hunting, next will be an upper set up for long range to go on my Les Baer AR.

Also bought 4K rds of ammo for it :)

So uppers, ammo, another AR, it's all good.

Can someone post a link to that plasma rifle ? :alien:

I would love an 1858 Remington. But where I live I would have to get a pistol permit. Something I just am not going to do. I might buy one which is legal for me to do, as long as I don't also have in my possession the items that would make it go bang.

"None of the above" would have been a good option as well.
I neither have nor want an AR as I already have an AK. Its accuracy sucks but it is a "fire for effect" firearm. I have a .243 bolt action that is sighted for a 200 yd. zero and I have put 6 shots in about a 2.5" area.

I like to have a need then find a gun to fill it. After doing that for a while, I have pretty much run out of needs. So I have witched over to wants. If I want it and have the money, I buy it.:)
I create my “needs” with hypothetical situations and convince myself that I “need” to acquire new arsenal

Well, when you get to around 300 guns it gets hard to come up with needs, even hypothetical needs. Wants are much easier to come up with. :)
Well, Gunny. I am sure that is a real problem at your collection level . Fortunately for me, I am at baby-step compared to those numbers. Although I am starting to have “this is for my wife” need justification in my collection :D

BTW, when I saw your pic on ammo cans, I was tempted to post that I hurt my back just imagine organizing all those ammo

I believe that a man should be able to buy all the guns he can afford. For years I was lucky to be able to afford one gun a year. Now days, if I see something I like, and have the extra money, I buy it.
Thank God that I’m not married and don’t have to explain why I keep bringing guns home.:)

I hear ya.

I think most of us have been where you were. I was in the same situation like you in my younger days. Now I can afford to buy the guns I’ve always wanted but could not afford, gotta admit it’s a good feeling.

Gunny, when I got to 100+ the next plan was to have duplicates of everything in three locations. That includes reloading setups. I am in the position that if I want it I get it these days as well.

To the OP just get a couple stripped AR lowers. Not lots of money and the background check part is done with.;) In before the ban.:D

That's a good idea Frogo - if you can afford it. What I did was to mount my Lee Progressive press on a piece of 2x8" and then C-clamp it to the table. Undo the clamps and grab the press with the 3 dies I have already mounted on plattens and in one box. Powder, primers, lube, etc. are in another box. Each box is about 10" wide x 8" deep x 8" high.
