One of my favorites, but these have become so prohibitively expensive and collectable it does not get used. Randall Model 14 attack, sawtooth in stainless. Hopefully some other Randall owners will post some pictures of some of these wonderful knives from their collections.

Beautifully made knives but as you say rather expensive and highly collectible. I have one, a Model 1 with a 6" stainless blade, black micarta handle, and a nickel silver hilt. Don't have access to my photos but will post some when I get a chance.

Although I'd love to own a Randall I wouldn't pay the price. The most I ever paid for knifes is $110.00 for 1 and right at $100. for another. The rest of my stuff is sub $50. Everything I own is serviceable, some have been going strong for over 40 years. Hell, I sometimes use a folding box cutter for EDC.

That is a gorgeous knife you have there.

You can certainly get some fantastic knives in the $100 or so range. And I confess I am usually not eager to spend big money on all my knives as evidenced by the fact I also own some Randall copies made by Black Jack and Cold Steel.

In the photo below you see a Blackjack model 1-7 copy of Randall #1, a Cold Steel R1 Military Classic, copy of Randall #1.

The third is not a Randall copy, its a Cold Steel Black Bear Classic. A great subhilt fighter.

Like the Cold Steel Black Hear Classic! There's just something about that sub-hilt design that I really love. Thanks for sharing!

Here's my custom made Randall No.1, made sometime in the early 1980s.

ry%3D400.jpg My 15 in OEF, handle taped up to hide the brass. I used it and will continue to do so. Also, have one of their skinners that I used each deer season which I traded a new #1 for it and some cash. I prefer to buy them used when possible if I plan to use them. Great knives and I enjoy them.

I carried a #1-8 Randall in Vietnam . In 1967 I was around south Georgia area for a month or so. Went to Orlando , told Bo when I was shipping out and he said stop by before you go. 3 months or so later I did and Bo had it ready for me ! I had it until my oldest son got it in early 80s. Then I bought a model 14. Black micarta finger grip , 01 steel (of course) ; 7 1/4" of happiness. I replaced the #1 with an early 70s clone of the one I had a few years back , as the nect oldest son took the Model 14 . :)

Not sure if they still do it but Randall was doing a "quick ship" deal for the military up till 2010 or so. Sort of like what Gordon mentioned above. Was limited to certain models, 1, 14, and 15 I think with few options. That was how I got my 15 to take. If you are deploying or have someone who is I would contact them and see if they are still doing that. No break on the price but weeks instead of years to get one.

This Randall knife has a interesting history. It was owned by George Urick who spent 22 months in Vietnam. I am attaching a photo of his letter about the knife, I note he did misspell knife in the letter. Mr Urick is mentioned on page 108 in the book " Officer, Nurse, Woman: The Army Nurse Corps in the Vietnam War" by Kara Dixon Vuic. I am sure as a nurse who was not allowed to carry a firearm the Randall model 12 was a comfort. Still in beautiful shape, considering it was in country, though it has obviously seen use it is well preserved. The sheath is a Johnson rough back. Apologies for the less than stellar photography.
