SNAKE(s) on Cimarron Man with No Name Conversion Revolver

Those snakes are probably German silver (nickel and other things but not monetary silver). It would be easy enough to make patterns and cast them and then inlay them into grips. Mebbe I should go into business.

I recently purchased a Cimarron "Man With No Name" 1851 on auction and it was one that had the snake grips on both sides. I contacted Cimarron Firearms about this gun, when it was produced? how many were made? and cost when offered? and this was their reply.

"This was an earlier release gun and production was ended in 2012 with the
snake on both sides. Do not know how many were produced but it is not a
special number. It retailed for app. 940.00. Currently we only import
and sell the same gun with the snake only on the right side.

Hope this helps answer the OP's original question.

Sadhill,

The Cimarron reference picture you posted is not a conversion pistol. I had a set of 2 snakes that I bought from Ebay a few years ago to add to an original Pietta 2014 [CM] "tail" grip as an experiment, and the cost was less than $30.

I am not a good woodworker so inletting was beyond my prowess. The snakes only added 1/4" total to the width of the wood, and still comfortable to handle and shoot.

Admittedly an inexpensive alternative, I am thinking the Cimarron is an Uberti gun.

As usual, Cimarron wants a mint for their guns.

Mine is not a conversion, but even if I had a conversion cylinder, the cost of it, a new Pietta 1851 Navy .36 steel frame, and the snakes would cost less than $500.

My gun pictured is a Cimarron "Man With No Name" which is a .38 cartridge conversion and yes they are Uberti guns. It is marked on the top of the barrel, "Cimarron F.A. Co. FREDERICKSBURG. TEXAS, A. UBERTI ITALY". I have found out that the snakes added to my gun are not the original Cimarron added snakes. Cimarron's snakes are sterling silver .999 and they are inlayed below the wood and can be purchased separately from Cimarron for $100 each.
You can purchase a Cimarron 1851 .38 conversion without the snakes and add them if you wish.
