I'm using Unique powder and a batch of 220 grain flat point Berry's bullets. The Berry's website says to use the powder manufacturer's data, but Alliant has no data for the 220 grain.

They have data for 225 grain: 11 grains Unique.

I want light charges because the revolvers are 29-2 Smith and Wesson revolvers.

My favorite bullet for these guns is the 240 grain SWC plated with 7 grains Unique. That gives an indication of what kind of rounds/recoil I like in these guns.

I'm thinking 7.5 grains/8 grains Unique for the 220 plated. The closest bullet in the Alliant data is a 225 grain cast with 11 grains Unique. That's stronger than I want for these guns.

Thoughts?

Sounds reasonable. If you have any BE-86 I bet it would also work very well.

That 11gr charge is the max charge. You are supposed to reduce it by 10% to establish the starting charge weight. I see nothing wrong with a 7.5gr - 8.0gr charge. That puts you at the upper end of .44 Special data.

I don't think it will help you but I am running 230 grain round nose Berry's bullets over 5.5 to 5.7 gn Unique in a S&W 625. I went as low as 4.5 gn Unique with no issues except they were way under power factor.
