Nickel or Non-Magnetic Steel Browning Cases?

I was sorting through my 9mm cases yesterday and I happened to notice some nickel-plated Browning - or so I thought. Comparing them to some other nickel cases, I noticed the head of the Browning cases looks more like steel. I put a magnet to them but it didn't stick. Anyone know what Browning makes there cases out of? 20180622_182102.jpg 20180622_182054.jpg
 
I'm assuming they are too heavy to be aluminum like the Blazer and Federal stuff, right?

Probably nickel or zinc plated brass then. I can't believe anybody would use stainless, which IS nonmagnetic if is has enough chromium in it, but I guess it could be done at great expense.
 
Get thee a file and look for yourself.

TL: DR. . . they're brass, with a dark brown plating or coating.

Probably BXP defense ammo, according to their website, its "black nickel" plated brass.
 
I don't think Browning makes anything but defensive ammo, much like Sig. Never heard of "black nickel" before and I certainly have never seen anything like it.

They certainly aren't aluminum either.
 
They are brass.

I have about 100 of them between 45 and 9mm that Ive reloaded probably 3-4 times each. After tumbling in SSTL the finish does start to wear, showing the brass underneath.
 
I don't know the purpose of 'black brass' unless it's to make sure you can't find them so you'll be forced to buy more shells.

It's to make them look cool/sexy of course.
Everybody knows if the ammo looks "cool/sexy" it must be better, higher power, more accurate. etc. Just ask anyone in Marketing:evil::D
