Can I legally order rifle magazines from a seller in Europe and have them sent to the United States as a person-to person transaction. The 10-round mags are legal where I live. The seller and mags are Czech, and the seller as an individual sellls magazines and magazine parts on the side but does not have an export license. I do not want to risk doing anything illegal. Am I better off forgetting about a possible magazine purchase.

Falls under State Dept. I went through this before, and it's a pain to do it the right way, but that was for a 20 round mag, not a 10 and yes, any size magazine is legal in Arizona. I would advise getting it inside the US. What magazines are you looking for?

armored man, I am wanting a few mags and mag parts for the Czech Vz 52/57, which is 7.62 x 39 caliber. Can get the mags in the U.S., but they are pricier.

troy fairweather,
checked everygunpart.com, but mag listing does not have Czech Vz52/57 unless I somehow missed it. It does have another Czech rife mag, but not the one I am looking for. Thanks.

ITAR is weird.

In many ways it's enforced more within the US than without.

Which makes me wonder what the position of Czech Customs (and/or the Czech Post Office) might be.

While I will suspect that many sellers just drop an item into a FedEx (or DHL) box and ship it away, apathetic, ignorant, or unconcerned by ITAR entire. Rather a lot of militaria gets traded this way, including some items that might fall under ITAR.
