I have a T/C Scout Carbine I have had for several years, never shot, and have mostly used for getting attention at gun shows. Carrying it around, it's amazing how many table holders will ask "What kind of Winchester is that?"

I finally got around to trying to disassemble the thing, and I am stuck at the point of trying to remove the actual breech plug.
Getting it to this point is no problem:

Taking out what T/C calls a breech plug, but would be more accurately called the nipple (#4 in the illustration), is also easy. This is the point at which I am stuck.

I have gone to the T/C web site and there is no easy access to the Scout manual any more.

Once you remove the 'breech plug" there is an approximately 1/4 inch hole through the piece just forward of the 'breech plug' and it appears that inserting a 1/4 inch round bar in it might that piece to be removed but I wanted to see if anyone has disassembled a Scout past this point before I start applying brute force.

I'll ask you what my dear departed ML gunsmith and friend Hank asked when I wanted to pull the breech plug off one of my perfectly-functioning rifles: Why are you on fire to detail strip your muzzleloader? Will you get it any cleaner, or be able to oil it better? Do you just want to look down the bore from the back? What advantage do you think you'll get from this exercise?

That said, check Evilbay or Gunbroker for out-of-print TC manuals.

Here is a PDF copy of the Manual I downloaded several years ago from the TC web Site.
I wouldn't think they would mind it being shared here.

From page 11 it says further disassembly not required. Can you post a picture of the breechplug?

Why does a chicken cross the road? To get to the other side.

Since I was a kid, I have always taken apart almost every thing mechanical I have ever owned. Many of them never make it back together, but that is the nature of the tinkerer.

I see this is old but my father in law has a carbine a round and powder are still in the barrel. The attempted to use a puller to remove it and now the puller is in the ball but the threads pulled out of the ram rod so I ordered a new rod I'll have to extract it from the rear of the barrel because the new rod won't screw onto the puller. I tryed to push it out with my larger air compressor with nozzle with no success. I would like to remove the breach housing off to just push the round out any tips or ideals

If it were mine, which it is not, I would put a cap on the nipple, a string on the trigger, point it in a safe direction, put a couple of sand bags on top of it and pull on the string. At worst, I would expect the cap to push the load a few inches towards the muzzle.
