The first series model 67 Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. Mine is a 67 no dash. Probably changed at 67-1. My book just says it was introduced in 1972 with stainless sight and later changed to black.
The first run of the model 66 revolver has stainless steel adjustable sights. The law enforcement agencies that received many of these early guns complained that the sights were difficult to see in sunlight. S&W responded by changing the sights to the standard blue adjustable rear with red ramp front sights. To my knowledge, there are no SS adjustable rear sights currently offered.
