This mounting setup is going to strip my screws, isn't it?

I don't shoot this shotgun very much (just a shot or two at turkeys each spring, if that), but the more I look at it, the more I think I might have made a mistake here.

Mounted the scope up with a mount for a Taurus Raging bull revolver, clamped onto the vent rib.

But under recoil, that's going to put undue forward pressure on the screws holding the vent rib to the barrel, which are not designed for this kind of force.

So, do you think it's going to ruin the vent rib and I'm lucky it hasn't already..... Or, OTOH, "just a few shots a year should be fine for one lifetime"? This is an NEF (Sarsimalz) cheapie. I love this rig so hate to change it, but I'll take it off and go back to irons if I think it's going to shear those screws.

Maybe I should have put this in gunsmithing.

Actually on 2nd thought, this vent rib must just be epoxied on since there are no visible screws and I don't know how else it could be put on. Think I'll take the scope off in that case. No way that epoxy could hold up forever to those forces (2 oz turkey loads).

Oh right. Well, I don't know - my guess would be the cheapest kind of solder possible, for a Turk-made gun, but I could be wrong. Good question - just how strong is each kind?
