While recognizing the serious responsibility that accompanies firearms ownership and operation, many of us own guns that are, well, silly. Unless your name is Natasha and you really need a pistol that can be concealed in your garter, that tiny little pistol in 25 acp is a little silly. The single barrel 3 .5" 10 ga may indeed be a slayer of geese, but it's a little silly. That cap and ball belly gun? Nevertheless, these silly guns please us. They may be far inferior at a job than another firearm. They may be outdated, or an aberration, perhaps even an abomination in the eyes of others, but we are nevertheless tickled by them.

The latest of mine (stock internet photo for convenience) below. I'm sure many of you have a silly gun...or two.

Ive had several Firestars and they are a bit silly- too heavy for concealed carry, too small for a belt gun, not enough capacity for their bulk, not terribly accurate.....and a single action to boot!

But they are tough, fit my hand well, are reliable feeders, are cheap and make decent truck or tackle box guns. Plus, if you run out of rounds, they can double as an effective cudgel!

Years back the LGS had not one but two CZ’s in .416 Rigby on the used gun rack.. They were unfired and about 1/2 price. I looked and looked at them. The “cool” factor was off the charts. Fortunately, two individuals more foolish that I am bought them before I could waste the money.

On the upside, had there been a Cape Buffalo or elephant on my property here in Indiana, I’d have been good to go.

Every gun I have had a valid purpose for its design at the time it was brought to market. However, "silly" pretty much kicks in when a more-current crop makes the one in question all but pointless.

Probably half or more of mine could be thought of as "silly" by at least someone here. I'll try to think as they might and pick three.

Taurus PT25. (I actually own two of these for some reason.) Way bigger than it needs to be for the caliber, and the .22LR version is more practical due to affordability and availability of ammunition.

Tokarev TTC. Fast and zippy round that is almost useless against anything you'd want to shoot with it, and expensive to boot.

Radom P64. Low capacity for its size and weight. The trigger.

Weatherby MarkV in .460WbyMag has to take the cake. It doesn't do *that* much more for me than its identical twin in .375H&H and shooting it is a multisensory experience that has more or less the same addictive qualities as eating multimillion Scoville chili.

The silliest gun I have is a Great Western II .357 1873. Its heavy, not period correct, and can only be carried 5 beans in the wheel.

I eventually bought a Blackhawk to replace it for woods carry so i could carry it fully loaded. But man does the little 1873 shoot. If anything it's fun to sit there and thumb back the hammer on an empty gun and get the magical 4 click hello.

A couple of guns i lost after i have no use for. I have always wanted an 1895 Guide Gun. I dont hunt. It's expensive to shoot. It will pound my shoulder for no real gain.
I have also almost talked myself into a Shockwave for some made up reason as well. Sometimes just being cool is enough.

Hmmm. Since I've been a non-hunting suburbanite for a long time now, most of my guns that aren't carry guns or self defense guns are "silly" I suppose.

The top of the silly list would have to be my Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper I bought months ago. It has a small grip, a small trigger guard, a no leverage trigger, and a short ejector rod due to the 3" barrel. Popping out full length empty brass is a hassle compared to other guns.

I sure do like holding it and shootin' it though. Most days all I can get out of it is plinking accuracy, but then on occasion it shows me it is actually a fine little shooter. The challenge and part of the fun is getting the unpredictable little Bearcat to shoot small.

I have a 10ga 3.5" single shot thats dressed to vaguely resemble the m79. Fun to look at but not so much to shoot.

My masterpiece mpa10 would also qualify. At 7.5lbs that thing just about has its own gravitational forces.

I consider anyone that isn't able to embrace some silliness in their life to be a dull person indeed. I try not to be like that and enjoy it in firearms along with some other interests. Who in the world really, really, really NEEDS any number of the huge selection of guns produced today but think about a minute and see just how dull our sport would be without them. Me, I'm all for some silliness.

This one runs the spectrum from SHTF/EOTWAWKI all the way to the other end... SILLY.

A cutoff Mosin. It was only $99 at the time I bought it. Cut off and reshaped the stock. Cut and crowned the barrel. Have no need for it but just can't bring myself to sell it. So cute. So cheap.
