I am thinking of possibly a chest rig. A scoped 7 1/2 Super Redhawk is pretty bulky. I wanted to use it deer hunting but it wouldn't fit anything I had. What do you recommend?

Mernickle has a number of holster models which accommodate top mounted optics. I have one for my 1911 Commander with red dot sight. I can’t speak to scopes, but I’m pretty sure they will listen to your needs.

I carry mine in a custom bandoleer holster that I made. It's pretty bulky for a scope but works well keeping the gun on your chest.

Wes of 7X is a member of this forum (freedom475) and does a fine job. His design is well thought out and very well executed. I actually sent him the optic (UltraDot MatchDot) I have mounted on the .480 and he adjusted the pattern to fit it.

Been using Uncle Mikes Bandolier holster for my scoped SRH for a lot of years. No issues or complaints. I prefer the Bandolier style over the chest style as it’s easy on/off and not held tight to my chest. If I’m putting on or shedding clothing no need to readjust holster, etc.

I also use them for my scoped T/C Contenders. Both are in black, but I’m trying to find them in camo. I don’t think UM makes them in camo any more. I passed up one on Gunbroker last year.....kicking myself in the butt now!

The rig above is not worn tight to the chest. The straps need only be snug enough to keep it in place. Pop the latch and off it comes.

IMG_2790.JPG IMG_2793.JPG IMG_0169.JPG I have a scoped 7.5" Redhawk that fits nicely into an Uncle Mikes "Sidekick" ( see first pic) which also says " 3" and "Scoped" on it. Has a wide shoulder strap and could be worn in front of you although the strap is usually over my left shoulder which lets the gun ride high on my right side. Not sure if the total length of a 7.5" barreled Super Redhawk is the same as a 7.5" barreled Redhawk because of the frame difference but the second pic is the 7.5" Redhawk in the Uncle Mikes with the third pic the Redhawk showing the scope. Not even sure if they offer that holster anymore..... I got it used a few years back. Hope this helps......ETA..... Just googled "Uncle Mikes" and they still have a nice selection of what you may be interested in.
