That is an Astra 300 in 380 or 32. Spanish made gun

It is in excellent condition. They are very hard to find like that.

If is has Nazi stamps it will go up quite a bit in value.

I looked them up, in the condition you have I can see it selling for around $600

With German stamps up it goes

Thanks JONWILL,

The story is it was taken off a German officer. I’ll have to look into the stampings.

Here’s marks on the other side.

I’m hoping there’s someone here who knows German WWII stampings.

Thanks, Art

I've held one of these in my hand and I can't remember what ht heck it is. I know. Call me mr helpful. I'm looking through data. Any idea as to what caliber? Can you post a pic of the other side?

Those are Spanish proof marks. "N" for 1942. The other two indicate an automatic pistol proofed at Eibar.

Any Wehrmact or Nazi markings would likely be on the slide around the ejection port.

It's in great condition.

It appears to be a Spanish Astra model 300, cal. .380/9mm corto or .32Auto/7.65mm Browning, and should be so marked. Germany bought about 60,000 of these altogether in both calibers in WW2, and those specimens will also carry the German WaA/eagle stamps.

The Germans bought every kind of handgun they could get their hands on. They were losing more in Combat than they could replace.

They came up with some pretty neat "Last Ditch" designs that were baiscally all stamped. Here is one. The Volkspistol

Astras are really well made. The 300 models in that shape are selling over 700 on GB, with German waffenampt marks probably a few hundred more. Enjoy it for what it is.

As already identified, an Astra model 300. I have one in 7.65mm (.32 ACP for those of who prefer the English measurements). Do a web search for Astra 300, there's a half-a-barn-doors full of information. Including a serial number range sold to the Luftwaffe that were NEVER marked with German acceptance stamps.

Magazines are very nicely made and nearly impossible to find without a pistol attached. Mine has the obligatory little tiny sights, trigger pull between eight and twenty-six pounds, shoots to the sights out to about twenty yards. And one of the best looking designs of the type.

Funny how things happen. Though I have never owned an Astra 300 (I do have a very nice 600), and after participating in this thread, I've obtained both a really nice (non Waffenamt) 300 with its original - left handed - holster (at the local swap meet Saturday), and a pretty good 400 just today. I had fixed the 400 for a friend (it wouldn't fire repeat shots, and I discovered that the left grip panel was rubbing on the disconnector, which I fixed), and he GAVE it to me as a Christmas gift!

Life is good.
Merry Christmas to all...
