Current democratic trends and thinking appears hellbent on g us and dissolving the 2nd amendment!

I hope to God that our small collections and stockpiles of supplies will afford protection if ever called upon to do so!

If possible gather some sort of system to for yo.

Kids as young as 10 can be taught safe revolver handling, loading and shooting.
Not to appear some sort of a nutty Prophet, I'd just like to plant some pratical thought

Pratice as much as pratical in order to become proficient gather and learn to shoot lead balls as if the worst came about, then you'll be ready...

Just try to keep a backup system handy!

I agree with the OP's sentiments despite having trouble understanding some of his words.

I've been hedging my collection for some time now, in view of possible restrictive legislation. For example, I've been getting some extra AR's to use as trading fodder in case there's a panic. Then, I've been increasing my number of bolt action milsurps in case semiautos are outlawed. Finally, I've been buying reproduction muzzleloaders and cap-and-ball revolvers for when everything else is banned. I think I'm pretty well prepared. But, at nearly 74 years old, how much longer will I live? Everything ultimately is in vain.

When I read the OP, it led me to think about the movie "The Patriot" starring Mel Gibson.
After one of his young sons was killed by the Redcoats, and another son was taken prisoner, Gibson and his other young sons started
bushwacking the Redcoats in order to free his imprisoned son from the raiding outfit.

After freeing his oldest son, Gibson told his young sons not to feel bad about killing the Redcoats, and one of the boys replied to the effect,
"I don't feel bad, I feel glad, because they killed our little brother".

Those damn Redcoats got what they deserved!
Americans can never stockpile enough powder and ball.
But the next invasion of America will probably be by robots.
What's a fellar to do? o_O

I have no idea what this thread is about. Is it even about anything?

I'm kind of guessing at this point (and really not all that sure), but what I think the OP is saying is that in the event modern semi-automatic firearms are made illegal then those of us with revolvers and stockpiles of ammunition will still be able to carry on the fight to keep and bear arms (of some sort at least; possibly even reverting back to black powder guns if necessary)!

Just one possible interpretation on my part.

Well yes, I completely agree. Whisky, weed, caps, lead and powder may become the recognized media of exchange someday - in a not too distant future. Keep a black rifle handy, though.

I think he meant Lead not Weed...

This is what I gathered as well. And with the current climate, he may well be correct.

Like the bump stocks, making things illegal doesn't make them disappear and anyone STUPID ENOUGH to voluntarily turn in things just because the liberal idiots decided they are illegal, well they don't remember history and will repeat the history of the German Jews and All other dictator run governments....I did 20+ yrs in the USAF, and Not to be told what I can't own or shoot!!!

I am surprised that the mods have not locked this thread. Although it has some concerns insofar as BP guns being used in an insurrection, the thought of that is just not imaginable when going up against numbers of automatic weapons unless a well directed guerilla war was in place.

The reason I am posting this here is because WA State is considering a state-wide law to require ALL firearms (pay no attention to the BATF definition) to be locked in a gun safe at all times when not in the direct possession of the owner. That includes ANY BP firearm, to include all of my Pietta 1851 Navy .36 types. I guess the money I had saved to get a new pistol will now go toward a gun safe for my 1911 .45 and 2 extra mags, even though I live in a very rural area, have no kids or grandkids around, and have firearms hidey holes that the BATF will never find in a week, let alone any burglar or home invasion artist.

Making things illegal doesn't make them disappear.

I am reminded that the Clinton AWB did nothing to curb the sale of AR-15 guns. The AWB did away with the "dreaded" flash suppressor, the bayonet lug, and the telescoping buttstock, but the post-ban guns did everything the pre-ban guns did and ushered in a flurry of many guns in different calibers using the same platform.

I am afraid that I and us are out of bounds with this BP forum so I will quit here.

Regards,

Jim

Well considering that the armed population of the United States is about the 4th largest army in the world, and if you only take the guys and gals that served in armed forces that still own, add the cops (yes the local cops aren't going to put up with the Socialist BS going much farther), and the expected segment of the population that will join the previously mentioned group, minus the folks that own but merely talk a "good game"....you still end up with a standing army in the top 20.....

You should read Total Resistance by H. Von Dach Bern, which is a book I was required to read in the 1980's since The Marine Corps Infantry Officer School thought that the next wars would be vs. Marxist guerillas in South America, and knowing how guerillas operate is how to defeat them. https://www.amazon.com/Total-Resistance-Major-Dach-Bern/dp/B000GSTQHO It details how one would go about dealing with an occupying army in Europe, supposing it was the now defunct Warsaw Pact nations doing the occupying. It assumes there's nothing left but Olympic air rifles to begin the fight....

I doubt we'd be reduced that far, but it would work with muzzleloaders too. It details why you won't be limited to "limited stockpiles" if you fight right.

It could never really get that far, i wouldnt think. In order to be effective against the good people of america the socialist (communist as far as im concerned) left would have to become self sufficient, organized, responsible and skilled - by the time that happened they would or could no longer manage to hold their current beliefs - and they sure as hell wouldnt be worried about what bathroom a fella who identifies as a unicorn with rainbow toenails is going to use. Hard work, dedication, Service , morals and responsibility are the things that seperate the left from the right these days. Im not scared that some pimple faced 30 year old who never left moms basement is coming for me, besides i could see their multicolored hair for miles and choke off their starbucks supply. They would surrender in hours.

My biggest worry is the lack of attention these younger generations have to their surroundings. Most of them want to be entertained rather than work on any survival skills. This is what the left wants, it enables them to walk in and take over without a fight. I was surprised to learn that a good percentage of Millennials favor socialism. Socialism works great until you run out of everyone else's money.

well if we continue to put in more Democrats the more antigun laws that will be passed, so for now with the president we have he at lest isn't gonna pass any gun laws! but we must keep these antigunners out of office or else in close time we'll have to fight to keep our 2nd amendment and or our guns!

I'm not sure which way Mr Trump leans these days, he did do an executive order on bump stocks. I know it's off topic for this post. I do worry about the current bunch of government idjits deciding to make all guns, black powder or black stocks illegal. The current generations won't survive the zombie apocalypse let alone fight for their constitutional rights.

I believe that .22 longrifle ammunition will become "legal tender" long before we will need cap and ball. And "weed"? Yup...That's just what we need. NOT!!

There's a big difference between the "army" and "a large number of armed individuals". You (armed individuals of the USA) are already in a fight and you're losing. I keep waiting for when you will finally do/change something and light a beacon for the whole free-thinking world, but you are a disappointment. You can't even protect your history (Confederate monuments and flags). "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

Oh but he is coming for you, and for some time already, day after day, it's just that he's fighting you in another way. Remember that the pen is mightier than the sword. The ultimate weapon is the media. And we all are losing the war that it's been raging on for quite some time now, in Europe and North America, it's one and the same war.

I understand that, but to physically remove my means of defense a bit more than a pen will be required.

While this thread is interesting discussion/prophesy/observation, I think the "Social Situations" section of this forum is a more appropriate location to have it!!!
Lets keep the THR BP section free of politics and stick to "Getting lead on target the old-fashioned way."

:what: I hate to think about trying to use my cap & ball revolvers against a tyrant's army equipped with full auto M-16s .... or whatever next generation longarm they will be carrying ......
