Can anyone give me their take on these rifles? I'm looking really hard at a Ceratech model in 6.5 prc. I cant exactly walk into a store and fondle one. Order in only.

Also hoping someone has the Sauer in 6.5 PRC. Listings for the same model advertise it as 22-1/2 and 24-1/2 evenly and I am trying to find out which it is.

I have fondled one in Sportsman’s warehouse the other day, it was a black plastic stock version, I was not interested in it, but if they had one with a nice piece of walnut I would’ve been all over that in the right caliber. First impression is that it’s a well built , smooth design that I find quite appealing .

As for the PRC, I’m just hoping maybe it will breathe new life back into the RCM’s since brass is the same line.

the only thing that worries me i the barrel i pressed on ( they call it a name i forgot it ) so u cant replace the barrel. i would only get in a cartridge with long barrel life. from reports the mauser m18 i better and cheaper not to many chamberings yet. and i here they are a screwed on barrel.

I might be mistaken but I had read that this is the first rifle they have made where the barrel is replaceable.

Rifle Shooter mag just did an article on the new Sauer Long Range. Barrel was pressed in and accuracy on their test gun was mediocre at best. I'd want to see one in person before I'd drop the money. Too many known good rifles on the market today.

The Sauer 100 uses a threaded barrel and is replaceable. The remaining Sauer line is still press-fit.

Yep, after bunch of discussion on another forum, a company affiliate confirmed that while the barrels in the 101s are press fit, the 100s are threaded in like most other actions.

As for the rifles themselves, I've played with a few at the SW and really like what they offer for the price. 3 position safety, good trigger, good magazine/release design, smooth action, good reviews accuracy wise, all for a pretty reasonable asking price.

Well not that it was gonna take much, but I think that about makes up my mind.
Now to settle on chambering. I'm somewhat interested in the 6.5 PRC but have started to toy with the idea of the 7mm-08.

cant go wrong with 708. probably dubble the barrel life as the prc. i maybe hard to find a new barrel down the road for the 100. that why i would do the 708.

7-08 isn't that big a performance boost over 308. 6.5 PRC is 300 Win Mag territory.
I know the two are about as far apart as they come, but I'm thinking the 7mm-08 would be a better fit for this rifle and it's purpose, "white tail out to 250 yds". I'm thinking save the PRC for something with a longer barrel.

Aren't these like $4,000-5,000, for the Sauer 404 with the takedown and caliber change option?

Glad there is all kinds of rifles out there and glad that some have the income for it. Hopefully someone here will pick one up with a few calibers and show it off.

No doubt it looks really well thought out. I watched the shot show video about it and it showed off the removable bolt head to change calibers, the 3 takedown screws for barrel removal, the 4 external trigger weight settings, and trigger pull adjustment.

Pretty cool features, IMO
