Getting that itch again and looking for my next SBR project. I have nailed it down to these three options...

1. CZ Bren 2/806, middle of the road in regards to price, shoots 5.56, folding stock, sexy and I know will work.

2. Beretta ARX 100, cheapest in regards to price, comes as an SBR, quick change barrel, COMPLETELY ambi as I am a lefty, folding stock but kinda ugly

3. Arsenal 106, would be more of a project as I would have to send to a gunsmith to get it cut down but AK reliable, expensive magazines, folding stock, AK pretty.

The arsenal 106 would be fun but it is a bit of work to shorten them up. The bren is just sexy... Don't care too much for the Beretta...

CZ Bren 2/806.

Something about the Beretta makes me think of a porpoise, the mid section is wider than it needs to be in front of the magwell. And on an SBR I could see myself wanting my offhand on the magwell in front.

The CZ will be better to mount optics on than the Arsenal 106.

Nice to know I'm not the only person who thought that the shape kind of reminded me of a porpoise too!

Yea it is kinda FUGLY but having a really lefty friendly rifle would be really nice the ability to charge ak style but eject out the opposite side is pretty amazing

Whatever platform you go with, I'd make damn sure I bought the base firearm as a pistol or rifle and then "make" the SBR as opposed to buying a factory SBR. That way once the ATF opens up again, you can use the ~20 day F1 E-form process as opposed to the ~8-10 month F4 paper form process.

I've got a Bren 805 SBR, it weighs a ton ... The 806 is only 8oz lighter IIRC

I've never liked the Beretta AXR, looks like a pregnate guppie

AK ... Heck yeah! Sexy, and if you haven't already bought it, I think they make a 106 pistol ... Easy to SBR!
I built my AK SBR's with the Yugo M85 PAP in both 223 & 7.62x39. The 7.62x39 I couldn't decide if I wanted to use another Manticore triangle stock or a folder from a VZ-58, so I modified an adapter from a brace to accept both to see which I liked best before making any permenant mods to the receiver ... Still haven't decided and it's been 2-3 years ago and I still shoot it with whichever I'm in the mood for ... Wish I'd don't that to the 223 too.

Anyway, the AK is light and east to handle ... but both have quite the muzzle blast as I don't have a suppressor mount for the 23mmx1 thread it has.

If I had money I'd get a bren. barring that, I built a right side charging sbr AR. With a lefty selector and that side charge, it's awesome for a lefty. My next sbr will my my scorpion carbine, unless I try the endomag and a 9mm upper for my AR...

Besides, doesn't the arx have a rather bad trigger?

If it were for me, I would get the CZ, I already have a Scorpion EVO and the Bren would be a great addition.

That being said, you are a lefty, you said the Beretta is full ambi, that pretty well settles it. The Beretta isn't my first choice; but it may be the best choice for you.

While you can't make the Bren eject to the right, the selector and bolt charge handle are both ambidextrous, I actually like my charge handle on the right side so I don't have to move my hand from the grip to change mags, charge or release the bolt ... I've got the ACR stock and adabtor as well as the "retro magwell" or also known as the original magwell instead of the AR magwell and Manticore's handguard which replaces the picitinny rail on the bottom.

I've got a PAP M92 pistol/SBR too, you probably already know but if you're going to keep the larger front sight block threads that it comes factory with instead of threading the barrel just make sure the suppressor is concentric to the bore before popping rounds off, a baffle strike wouldn't be fun.

I think the barrel not being quite concentric with the bore pretty typical Except for the SLG-93 & 95 with hammer forged Steyr barrels; I don't know about the newer Arsenal's but for what they cost they should have good barrels too.
I happened on to an old but little used SLG-95 last year that I put MagPul Zhukov furniture and a Texas Weapons Systems Dog Leg top cover with a picitinny rail so I can have a scope, red-dot or a peep sight.

Another you didn't mention is a SiG 556 762x39 ... Avoid the Gen1, but if you want an SBR, the easiest way is the 556Xi 762 pistol ... Of course they don't make them any longer, but they still pop up on GunBroker from time to time, but SiG recommends synthetic mag if you want AK reliability; which I can confirm ... I've tried Chineese, Hungarian a couple other unknown steel AK mags and I'd get Failure to feed several times per mag ... Which is a shame because the 20 round Hungarian mags look good!

I’ll be the odd man out and put my .02 cents in for the Beretta.

I had always kinda wanted 1 because it’s differnt but not for the $1800 price-got 1
From GrabAGun for like $900 and I really like it.

Extremely easy to clean, runs really clean, and while the factory trigger was VERY heavy, it was actually a smooth pull....I’m picky about triggers though so replaced with a shooting sight trigger, which is a nice trigger

Has tons of really cool features, is very light, especially for a piston gun.

I like it enough to accept its not as accurate as I like...it’s about a 2” gun unless I find something it likes better (actually more like 1.75”, but other than my tavor, everything else is 1” or better).

As a left hander, it’s being totally ambidextrous with literally no time to change, it would be hard to beat imo.
