Got an updated ups form and it will be back on Thursday. Total time if so will be 28 days from time it left here. I’m not getting a new one though. They say they replaced front lens and a seal. Put new reticle in it. Recoil tested it. Purged with Nightrogen. Replaced or repaired one turret. Anxious to get it back. If it’s right I’m going to grab a second focal plane Veracity that’s supposedly new for this year coming out to stores in a few months. Nowhere near as quick as Vortex but all it cost was shipping. Vortex has sent me prepaid labels and turn around two weeks tops.
I'm not knocking Vortex by any means, but it's usually easier to just ship a new optic than it is to repair the one that came in.
The downside of doing that is if they are from the same lot that has the same flaw, or flawed parts etc.
Admittedly its rare, but I heard from a reliable friend, of 2 good scopes failing exactly the same way within months of each other, the replacements, replacement, went to another buddy of his, and he bought an even higher end brand.
For him tho, that experience killed the scope line for him. Had they fixed what he originally sent in, rather than having a replacement sent quickly, that just as quickly failed, I'd bet he would still be a customer.
I haven't asked if the third scope had any issues.
I've actually never had a scope fixed, only quickly replaced....and admittedly I've always wondered what was the issue with the ones I sent in, and if they would show up in the replacement (hasn't happened to me yet). ....Well besides the Nikon I squished, or the Leupold my buddy squished, those we're pretty obvious.
I have had two sets of very well made, reliable, and we'll recommended (hell I recommend them) recurve bow limbs, and 2 risers, explode on me. Tho the risers failing may well have caused the limbs damage.
The cause, I was never informed of, but I do know the whole batch of risers we're scrapped, and I was issued an upscale riser. The limbs were replaced 3 times, and admittedly I was leary by that third set, but I was assured they were from a new lot.
That was a long journey, that ended up fine.
