Guy I work with had this and was letting it sit in his sock drawer so I traded him a set of Novac cut Trijicon HD night sights and my Taurus M327 for it, it's cute as all get out and fits in my wrangler pockets with barley a bulge, now all I need is a couple boxes of ammo ( XTP or FMJ FN) loaded to around 900-950 fps and a few mags through it to figure out where it hits. My wife has already grabbed it and said it's so" cute", I may lose it lol.

I had one and loved it . It is not a very "high mileage" gun like a glock 26 or so but it is small and reliable.

Don't dry-fire it. The Tomcat's firing pin breaks easily. Wanna know how I know?

Yet still a cool little piece put together like a Swiss watch ... albeit with a heinous DA trigger. Mine's an INOX version.

I have a jetfire in 25 and a 21a in 22lr. They are surprisingly accurate and reliable. I have even carried the 22 in my pocket when at the coast and shirtless. Not many carry options in that situation since I don't like the small carry guns, my glock 27 is as small as I want but since I found good deals on the two berettas, might as well carry them.

I carried one for several years and was very happy with it, until, while cleaning one night with the slide off, I noticed what appeared to be a transverse crack in the frame just above the trigger bar where the aluminum is quite thin. A quick check of the interweb revealed this is a common problem with older Tomcats. I don't know if Beretta ever really corrected the issue in later production, but I would definitely check it before attempting to shoot it.
Good luck!

They eventually did something... made the frame a bit thicker maybe, to correct the cracking problem.

My 950 is about 2/3 as wide as my 21a. It's also sao where the 21a is da/sa (can even carry cocked and locked if you choose.) So that's part of the extra width. But they may have made them thicker to remedy the cracking as well.

I seem to recall reading something about this where Beretta eventually went with a wider slide design to help slow down the slide when it came into contact with the frame. Beretta may have also gone with a beefed up stainless steel frame as well because I believe that an all stainless steel Tomcat was the only version they were offering after they redesigned the gun.

I should add that after a check on Beretta's website, they still have both the Bobcats (blued and stainless), and the Tomcat (stainless only), listed for sale.

Bannockburn don’t you have a small Beretta that you had a special metal finish applied not hard chrome but like it no?

Or am I not remembering correctly?

You're remembering correctly! I have a Beretta Model 70S in .22LR that was hard chrome plated by Metalife many years ago. But the gun itself is a lot larger than a Beretta Jetfire or Bobcat. Think of it more like a medium size frame (.32 or .380), compared to the much smaller frame (.22 Short or LR or .25), Jetfire or Bobcat.

When I saw "Big Ol Beretta" I thought for sure this thread was going to be about someone trying to carry a big boy 92FS type firearm. Good find. Wish I could find a little tip up 32 Beretta like that for the wife.

I had one for a while. My European 32acp pistols have been very fussy about shooting American 32acp ammo. Winchester White Box has been the worst. My Tomcat would shoot Fiochi or S&B no problem, but would choke horribly on the WWB.

Tallball

I have noticed the same thing with my Walther, Manurhin, and Beretta built .32 ACP pistols; they ran better with European manufactured ammo. Besides Fiochi and S&B I also found Geco ammo to be good to go in my guns.

Your Jaguar is too short

They are one of the best suppressor hosts!

Tomcats can be threaded as well, OP ;)

All these years, who knew? Always thought of my Model 70S as being the perfect semi-auto equivalent to the revolver Kit Gun. Never imagined getting it mixed up in any so-called secret agent stuff that required a suppressor!

I have also seen photos of Bobcats, Tomcats, and even a Jetfire all equipped with a suppressor!

The suppressed M70 featured prominently in the Entebbe rescue operation too.
