(in my best Price is Right voice) A new Kahr!

As I said, the dimensions of the K9 and the Shield are nearly identical. The K9 fits two of my Shield holsters like a glove. The Kahr is heavier, but I gotta admit I much prefer the feel of the K9 to the Shield. But I do carry my Shield more because I like a safety. I barely notice either gun when carried, and barely register a difference between the two when carried either.

What does the K9 weigh vs. the PM9? ( I'm in the market for a PM9. They are hard to find right now)

The K9 weights 23.1 ounces.
The PM9 weights 14 ounces.

I bought an early stainless K9 and it's never even acted like it would jam.
It's accurate, reliable, and one of the safest small autos to carry due to the revolver-like trigger.
In fact, I tell people to shoot the Kahr's like they're revolvers.
If you've never handled a DA revolver much there may be a learning curve as you learn to shoot DA, but if you've spent any time with a revolver you'll be right at home.
I prefer the all steel model over the polymer, and Kahr seems to have had the least trouble with the steel models.

For ammo, since every gun is an individual recommendations are of little value. Just buy a brand of premium American made defense 9mm ammo and test it. If it works reliably, you're done.
There is NO "Best" defense ammo. The premium brands are so close together in effectiveness that it's a waste playing around looking for "the best".
Remember, the most important thing with a defense gun is reliability. Not accuracy, not looks, not even caliber.

Since your Kahr is used, you'd be smart to buy a new recoil spring. These small guns are hard on springs and unless you know for sure how many rounds have been through it the spring may be due for replacement.

The Kahr web site has a wide selection of top quality Kahr comparable holsters.

Here's my early K9 stainless.
It really didn't need it but I did some edge reduction and stippled the front strap and the under side of the tang.
This was the first auto pistol I saw that was this smooth inside. There were no burrs that needed removing, and no polishing or smoothing of parts was needed.
Prices are high but how much is your life worth?

I build my own holsters. Here's a cross draw with a sight protecting front seam and a Half-and Half rear seam.

Do you make your own holsters just as a hobby, or do you ever sell them. I might be interested in one if you shoot me a price. PM if interested.

I've had a K9 for many years, it NEVER jammed. It was the 'original' Kahr and they got it right the first time.

I did however finally trade it in for a Sig P365, which has a very similar feel but is considerably lighter and has more rounds on board.

Nice customizing of your K9! Also like your holster for it! Nicely designed and constructed.

I have one of the very first K9s that came out. This was before the frames were reinforced and it has the factory electroless nickel (before stainless was an option). I still have it and it's one that I won't ever sell. It's no longer considered one of the smallest 9mm, but it still has a lot going for it. It feels substantial in the hand, something many modern micro 9mm's don't provide.

I'm sending as many rounds of as many variations as I can through my K9 this Sunday. I'm equal parts excited and anxious to see how I enjoy the DAO trigger. I'm not a stranger to revolvers, but the Kahr is a different animal! I'll be in touch...

Holy crap does the K9 make me look like a good shot! I shot Winchester white box, Federal 150gr. HST, Winchester 147gr. defense, some random reloads, and God help me...quite a bit of Tula. This gun is a BEAST! Not one malfunction of any kind - count'em...zero! That didn't really surprise me, but what really sent me over the edge was how accurate it was. I'm talking stupid small groups. with the occasional flier (my fault, not the gun), my groups averaged 1 inch at 10 yards.. The trigger might be a long pull, but I didn't even notice it when shooting. In summation, great gun.

Love the title, Woodchuck Assassin

I love the look of the K9 but have never actually gotten to put my hands on one.

Man, I have a love/hate affair with those Kahr pistols...I have strong negative opinions towards the polymer Kahrs, experience has soured me greatly on those...
But hot dang I would jump at a MK9 if one of those came around, or a K9. The metal Kahr's are in a different league than their polymer offerings.

The K9 is the only kahr I've ever shot. I avoid polymer framed pistols as a personal preference, but boy-howdy can I vouch for this metal beast!

Next thing to do is find myself a nice holster. I'm looking at a High Noon holster, but I need to save my pennies.

Great guns, I have both the K9 and an early E9 (the value version of the K9):

I actually prefer the grips on the E9 - they are hard nylon and don't grip clothing like the K9s rubber grips.
