What's the best gun deal you've ever gotten?

Not too many years back maybe 3 or so I purchased a Thompson Center Venture in 7-08 for $180. TC was offering a rebate and the shop I dealt with had the on sale for $280. I thought I did pretty well.
Next was the famous Cabela’s Savage 12FV. They had them for $409 then they knocked $100 off and Savage had a rebate for $100. So I got one in 204 Ruger and 22-250. Almost a two for one deal!! I thought $409 was a good price to start with!

The best deal I ever got was a Mosin, right at the tail end of when they were cheap. $100, which isn’t the greatest but for the time I scored nicely.

Also bought a can of ammo for 100 at about the same time. Resold it for 140 since I don’t like shooting corrosive ammo.

Thinking I could probably get 300 or more if I dumped the Mosin now. It was my first gun though so I’ll probably keep it forever even though I rarely shoot it.

I've had a couple of great deals. The first was when I traded a tired ford 360 engine for a S&W Model 59 sometime in the early 80's. The second was when I was at lunch with a friend and he wanted to know if I wanted to buy a pistol. He had a .44 magnum revolver and a 9mm semi-auto. Price was $20 for either. I chose the 9mm, another friend chose the .44 Mag. I had no idea what I had just bought sight unseen. Fast forward a year and I finally fly myself down to his place while on the way to my fathers. The gun I purchased was a S&W SW99, New in box and never fired. Granted it's polymer and fugly but it shoots just fine. Did I mention it's ugly? I am not a plastigun fan by any means. But the deal was great and it shoots well and my wife loves it.

I worked with a guy that bought a Colt Anaconda 6 inch .44 mag, and after firing two boxes of loads threw it was intimidated by the recoil. He said he paid just under 700.00 for it at Gander Mountain new. Sold it to me for 300.00 cash. I got a shoulder rig and a tooled leather hip holster rig with it. Because I already had a .44 mag I traded it in on a new Springfield loaded target .45 ACP that was 1000 bucks and got 850 dollars credit for the Colt. HAPPY CAMPER hdbiker

I bought a Swiss rifle for $25 decades ago sold it for $45 two years later. Wish I'd kept it now.

I was at a yard sale and bought a 1946 Mosin Nagant #44 that look like new, all matching except for the stock for 75 bucks, got a few rounds with it. Bright bore that slugged at .312 and very fun to shoot. hdbiker

- Remington 700 Classic in 222 for $10
- Remington 1100 16 ga when I was 10 gifted from my Dad
- SW 10 from my uncle when I graduated college
- SW 57 41 mag gifted from a friend.

All were brand new except for the Model 10 and the Model 57.

A Romanian bolt action .22lr (surplus) for $47. It's a great gun, and the favorite of my .22's.

Went to a farm auction looking for a truck. Local Police Chief cleaned out the evidence locker, and had a few guns included in the auction. One was a Browning HiPower in a military holster. Gun was dirty and somewhat pitted from being in the holster, but otherwise in decent shape. I got it for $225.00. Turned out it is a Estonian Contract HiPower made in Belgium in 1932 with German holster, and 2 German marked magazines. Cleaned up pretty nice, worth close to $2000.00

In 2003 I bought a Colt 1901 Army that had issues for $150. After a couple of years I traded it (as is) straight across for a 1937 Luger that also had issues; no grips, magazine or firing pin. A few years later (2010?) after acquiring a set of grips, a magazine and a firing pin (about $250) I traded it straight across for a very nice Colt New Service chambered in .38-40. After a couple more years (2012) I traded it straight across for a 1954 Colt Commander in 98+% in a tattered box.

So I figure I paid $400 for a beautiful Commander that I have no intention on ever trading away.

I bought a used S&W model 10 3”with about 60% of the finish worn off between ‘63-‘02. I shot it regularly for 6 years then had it rebuilt. Paid $150 for it, $100 for the rebuild so for $250 I’m a happy camper!

I bought this S&W 10-6 from my neighbor, who said he won it in a raffle years ago.
I paid $200.00 for it .

Colt Trooper MKIII fired one time for $225. Colt King Cobra SS, $300. S&W Model 36 3 inch barrel $125. Winchester pre-64 30/30 for $200.

A west German Sig 226 my friend willed to me, much rather have him than the pistol.

My 20$ ticket was the first one pulled!

A factory new Beretta 84 in nickel for $400 cash. Local pawn shop was in forclosure and literally all inventory was 50% off or less.

Last year I went into mt LGS and they had a 4" S&W 686 in the case with a $399 price tag on it. I figured it was used and asked to look at it thinkin' that was a 'ell of a price on one. When I asked why a used gun was in the new case, the clerk told me it was new. They had just gotten in in from a sister store cause it didn't sell there. Barrel was straight, everything else looked good so I asked him more than once......"are you sure this price is right?". His reply was always "yes". So I said I'd take it, even tho I did not need another 686. That store makes you pay up front for the UBC before they allow you to purchase. Once I passed the UBC and they completed the transfer, they rang up the gun, the price came up as $729. After about a half hour of he-hawing and phone calls they came back and said they had mispriced the gun and asked if I would pay at least their cost of the gun. I said no, I only bought it cause of the price on the tag. I also told them they has already transferred the gun to me and now they had a problem. Coupla more phone calls and the gun was mine for $399.

A couple years ago a LGS had several S&W model 64-3 with 4” barrel for sale at $200 OTD. The deal was so good that I did it twice!

The guns were security company trade-ins and had some holster polishing at the muzzle and the front of the cylinder but that’s all. Faint turn line and mechanically great. Seemed to have been carried a lot and shot little. Great shooters!

Got a wood stocked Steyr M-III Pro in 25-06 a years ago for $350. Guy I knew got a great deal on it but didn't like the "quarter bore" caliber it was chambered in.

I have since traded it for a Colt Officer 1911 and got $400 boot in the deal.

reminds me of when Walmart dropped the Colt 6920 due to lack of sales -and it was lack of sales not politics. They sat at 900, then they sat at 800.... eventually they sat at 500. Then they all sold at $400.

The M1 Garand I was issued in high school (1966) and purchased from CMP in 2016 for $730. Fortunately, I remembered the serial number.
