Most oddball cartridge you load for?

For me they are not quite oddballs, but definitely not the common fodder - 6.5x55 Swede, 6.5 Jap, 6.5 Carcano, 7.7 Jap, 45 GAP, and should we count 38 Super and 30 Carbine? I have components, dies, for 7.5 Swiss, 5.7x28, and 7.62x25 Tokarev but haven't loaded for them yet.
I would guess that 300 Blackout, 32 ACP, and 45 Colt are not that common either on the shelves, but I crank them out at the bench.
I guess I should add 30-40 Krag to the list as well.

I guess that many of my cartridges are pushing the oddball envelope, or at least the uncommon barrier.

Me too. I also use the original style brass which is totally not worth it.
To all you people calling 8x57, 7.7, and 32 Winchester oddball, you can go kick rocks. They were the most common cartridges next to 30-30 that my friends had when I was growing up.

Perhaps "oddball" is too strong of wording. But you don't find those cartridges for sale at Walmart and I have not picked one up at the range in 30 some years. A friend sent me a ziplock bag of brass that he collected at deer camp for me and it contained five 7.7's.

6mm tcu and 7mm tcu…….so easy to make brass for.
These two would make great youth hunting cartridges for a bolt action rifle. They actually have more case capacity then a 6ppc.

Well let's see…

7.62x39 (I don't think it is too common to handload...)
22PPC
7BR
30-221 (300 Whisper, now known as 300 Blackout for the newbs)
My wildcat that an old buddy and I designed for IHMSA called 300 SiempelDude... it is the 445 SuperMag necked down to .308

I kinda like the oddballs.

Yeah, I agree. I have handloaded those myself.

I really don't consider anything I load to be oddball, just uncommon. Someone else mentioned 30 carbine, which I have also loaded. Then there is 450 Bushmaster (becoming more common, though) and 460 S&W.

I've got a few:

7.65 Luger using .32 caliber plated bullets due to oversized bore
8.15x46R
6.5x57mm
8x68S
6mm SLR (modified .243W)
40-70 WIN (really a .40-82 designed around reformed .45 2.4" Starline brass and a 420grain Postell bullet)
.45-90 2.4"
.45-100 2.6"

Uncommon I guess, certainly not obsolete or worthless.

That comment was my catty sarcasm from another forum thread on how the .41 was obsolete and worthless in the face of other (read: 10mm, .44 and .45) cartridges.

What's interesting... is the amount of you who load .348WCF. Solidarity, brothers!

9.3x62mm Mauser. It is really a great hunting cartridge, and it is even better now, in a modern steel Mauser, with modern powders.

95% of a .375 H&H, with 5 rounds in the magazine, and manageable recoil.

My oddball cartridges are a 7 mm Weatherby magnum and a 32 Smith and Wesson Long. Not that they are all that odd but they are on the tougher side to find ammunition for and when you do find it it is rather expensive.

I was joking.
You don't find empties because we have to pick them up to reload with.
What is common comes from the economic status of the area and the type of land.

I guess my 308 Norma Magnum is sort of an oddball...it didn't use to be an oddball when I fell in love with the cartridge well over a half century ago.:)
I also load for a 32 Winchester Special and a .45-110 (2 7/8" case) Sharps, as well as a 7mm IHMSA.
The .45-110 Sharps is my favorite to load for...those big ol' long cases and 500gr bullets are impressive looking. And I drop the black powder into the cases through a 24" brass drop tube, until I have just the right amount of powder so that it is slightly compressed when I seat the bullet and wad.
I love the mechanics of loading for my .45-110 Sharps. The fact is, I like loading for it more than I like shooting it. Our grandsons like to shoot it and think of Quigley though, so it works out alright.:)
