Hi Everyone, flexible here; well I finally took the plunge and traded in two rifles for a set of Blaser F3 28 gauge 32 inch barrels. Does anyone have ideas on what shells pattern well in the Blaser? I've heard a lot of the bargain brands aren't very good and with the cost of 28 gauge I don't want to do a lot of experimentation.
thanks

To shoot very much 28 gauge, you almost have to reload, and the best reloadable hull is Winchester AA. Remington Premier is also pretty good, but I have not gotten as many reloads out of them as AA.

No two guns will pattern the same, you will still want to test whatever you decide to use. Fiochi does a decent target shell, but are not very reloadable, but are usually cheaper.

kudu pretty much covered it.

Once you determine what shell patterns best, buy them by the case and you will save a bit of money. But reloading is the best way to save when shooting 28 ga.

I've shot Remington STS, Winchester AA, Estate, Fiocci... and one other brand I can't recall (Herters maybe?)

Not surprisingly the STS and AA patterned really dang well out of the Red Label. The others weren't bad either...which is one of the reasons I really like the 28 (And the 16), very user friendly. :)

Good luck with your search, and stay safe!

Thanks everyone; have purchased a couple of cases of Fiocchi to start and have my eye on a MEC Graber - especially with my granddaughter being 9 and a 28 would be perfect for a 11 year old to start with. Great now I have to start looking for a 28 gauge O/U!!!! LOL
thanks again
flexible.
