Which $1,000 Gun???

The wife and I are coming into a small "windfall" and we've each agreed we each get a grandish to "blow" on anything we want.

So here's question.
If you had $1,000 - $1,200 for a pistol you absolutely don't need, what would you buy? Antique? Classic? Rarity? Plastic, fantastic gun de jour? (Ammo for what you've got?)

I don't need a carry gun, have 5: S&W CS9, S&W 642, M&P EZ, S&W 4513 and S&W 6906
I don't need range guns: Collect S&W, Walther, and German Police Pistols and have a great BHP
I don't need .45acps, .22 target guns, or modern revolvers. I don't have a lot, but enough.

Could like a nice Walther PP or P88 compact; Walther WWII P38; Sig 210....

Prefer 9mm or .38S&W or .38 special, .32acp or .357.

So...here's $1,100 and you get an hour in the LGS or on Gunbroker...starting: NOW.
I don't see a 1911 on your list, and I believe that nearly every serious shooter needs one as part of the stable. For that reason, and because you said you'd prefer 9mm over .45, I'd be looking for about a $750 9mm 1911, and spend the rest on ammo.

My immediate answer to this question is the new Sig P210. Aside from that, a good Colt Woodsman Target Match, 2nd or 3rd gen.

I'd probably grab a SW 19 classic, or shell out a couple extra bills for a Dan Wesson 715. Or just put the money in the bank.

I know what I would buy, but the op seems to be looking more for collectible, old school, etc. Given those parameters, I'd look for a single action revolver like the cimmaron evil roy or the uberti grizzley paw. Or a classic like the Smith 39 Also, if you rule out carry gun and range guns, what's left other than a collectible?

I personally would be looking for an eaa witness limited, a used cz tacsport, a nice hi-power, a tuned 9mm 1911, or something along those lines. I'd still like to pick up a 3rd Generation Smith auto as well.

Another option, and probably the most fun, would be a suppressed, semi-auto 22 pistol. ($300-400 for the can, $200 for a stamp, ~400 for the gun, and a 9 month wait. like a baby)

I think this says a lot. If I were in your shoes, with this on my mind, I would use it to pay down debt or put it in my IRA.

Now that I'm done being reasonable, I'd be looking at a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 in 30-06.

I would be boring and get a Sig P226 Emperor Scorpion or maybe the Legion SAO.

If I knew the zombie apocalypse was coming with tough non-magic zekes that need a beat down to stop coming at me, the FN FNX-Tactical 45acp.

So what did you end up with? Me, a Magnum Research of some kind of any kind revolver, or even a DE in 44mag.( already got the DE AE50). Can't go wrong with Magnum Research, in my eyes.

Many, many thanks to all who made suggestions.
I finally decided on a Sig 226 Stainless Elite. LGS had one in the case, I fondled it, and that was that. (It wasn't new, but it was damned near new and had new $200 Trijicon night sights and a Gray Gun trigger job. SA is just a bit over 3 lbs and DA is around 6. (It was the trigger that finally sold me.)
Here's a crappy photo....those nice wood grips have been replaced by G10s...and it made a really good gun even better as they are much thinner. Range report in a day or three.

You got any stands, yet? 1000 would get you into a pretty decent silencer (stamp, transfer, etc, incl). Sounds line you got plenty pig "Title 1" stuff, step up a category.

Or....

Any optics pistols yet? 10mm with a long bbl and an RMR. Be able to tell friends, "rifles? Oh snap, we were shooting rifles today, weren't we. My bad, I guess I'll have to use my pistol" Then keep up with them :D
