Is it obligatory to have your CCW permit on your while armed in your jurisdiction?

Florida requires you to have your permit with you, as it is issued by the Dept. of Agriculture. Apparently the police database is not linked to the Dept of Agriculture's database because, Florida.
Because Florida is smart that way. The Ag Comm handles ALL licenses and permits state-wide, from barbers to casino workers so it only made sense these would also be handled by that group. With no duty to inform, the LEO doesn't need the ability to look you up in his database.

I'm not clear where "luck" plays a role.

Either you're doing the speed limit and obeying the traffic laws or you're not. I don't see where "luck" enters the picture.

I make a conscientious effort to obey all laws, traffic and otherwise. Whether anyone chooses to believe it or not, even the most law-abiding driver breaks traffic laws every day without even realizing it. Bad luck is getting caught.

Unless of course you are perfect, I know I'm not.

So, how often do you get pulled over while making a conscientious effort?

I want nothing to do with the police. Hence I conduct myself so has to not have any contact with them.

I view a concealed handgun license as having one purpose and one purpose only, to allow me to legally carry a handgun to enable me to defend myself. I don't view it as a way to get out of speeding tickets.

To his defense, I believe he was simply making an unscientific observation. I doubt that L.E. are allowing people with carry permits who are caught breaking the traffic laws slide just because they, like 14.5+ million of others across the U.S., have carry permits. It's possible, but not plausible IMHO. From my experience, sex and age plays more of a role in "getting a warning" than anything else.

Whether or not he's being pulled over for minor traffic violation is his business/problem. L.E. and states heavily depend on people violating traffic laws. It's a multibillion dollar business. Many are searching for any and every little reason to meet a quota and give revenue tickets. Even I have been pulled over throughout the years for the most minor/trivial issues.

But "the narrative" says, "I get out of speeding tickets because I notify cops that I have a concealed carry credential, even though the law doesn't require it." That's not MY narrative. I find it disgusting.

You keep mentioning speeding tickets, not every "contact" is for speeding. The last "contact" was for driving with a trailer in the left lane, I saw the sign and made my best effort to move out of the left lane since I had a U-Haul on the back. It takes time to do that in moderately heavy traffic, the policeman thought I took too long to make it happen. I was able to persuade him that I did my best to accomplish the goal safely, from my perspective. Did showing him my carry permit and affirmatively answering one simple question "Are you armed?" make any difference to the outcome (not cited)? Who knows. I'm not trying to make the case it did, or didn't. I'm only stating outcomes.

Police are, above all, human beings, they are filling a role society has carved out for them. I choose to conduct myself in a forthcoming and polite manner to everyone I meet unless they give me signals or reasons to believe they should be treated differently, police included.

Look, every morning over coffee we have the local news on TV, once it segues to what is essentially the police blotter, the most commonly uttered phrase seems to be "routine traffic stop"; it never ends well, sometimes it's the cop, sometimes the perp, sometimes both. We all have our own ways of walking the coals of life barefoot.

Because that's the overwhelming element of "the narrative".

Over and over and over, people keep telling me that unnecessarily notifying police that I'm carrying will get me out of speeding tickets. That's not why I have a CHL.

If you don't want contact with the police, don't do things which invite it.

Fair enough, your core advise is beyond reproach.

In Ohio you can open carry but you can not carry your gun on you in your car without a license. If you have your CHL best to just carry your ID and avoid headaches.
