So many new CCW handguns available. Yes friends. I'm rather specific here., wanting a DA/SA stainless 9mm. I perspire a lot here in the South and carry AIWB. Single stack is fine. I've pondered Beretta, CZ (I wish there were stainless CZ's besides the 75B), and Smiths. Don't care for striker fired either. I prefer a hammer fired handgun as I grew up with. Perhaps some here could summarize compact models I could look into? Just a maker and model would be great. Thank you. Don.

Thank you. Yes those would be wonderful. Sort of scarce in my parts though. So disappointed that most makers have switched to striker fired. I prefer an external hammer. Springfield has the hammer fired compact but not in stainless. I keep hoping for a stainless option. I miss the 90's..... Don

A polymer frame would probably be more perspiration resistant and open up more options, such as those from HK, and Beretta.

Something else you might want to consider is having a blued gun hard chrome plated. Tough as nails and very corrosion resistant. I have a hard chrome plated Beretta Model 70S that looks as good as the day I got it back from Metalife and that was nearly 40 years ago!

A lot of guns have inobvious stainless slides because they're finished. For example, the Shield 2.0 has an Armornited stainless slide, polymer frame and should be pretty rust resistant. Other small 9mms with stainless options that I can think of are the steel Kahrs, and the Taurus G2C and G2S which have stainless options. (I'm not endorsing either brand, mind you. Do your research on anything you buy.)

Once you've found something in stainless or stainless/polymer, search for "gun model rust" to see just how stainless said steel is. All steel isn't created equal, and the type and level of finishing can affect corrosion resistance.

Two which immediately come to mind are the S&W 6906, and the 3913. Might take some searching, because
they went out of manufacture years ago.

+1

the 3913 is alloy framed, not stainless, but still a fantastic semi-compact with a fairly slender profile.

The full size 5906 honestly isn't all that large, either, though fairly hefty. It's about Glock 19 size. The elusive 3906 is a lighter, slimmer single stack version.

Thank you folks so much for the suggestions and leads for me to study on. I suppose part of the fun is in the search. Looks like there's much fun in my near future! Don

I think these are the answer for the criteria as best I can tell.

A polymer frame would probably be more perspiration resistant and open up more options, such as those from HK, and Beretta.

A PX4 Compact would be my choice if I was going small DA/SA I think. Polymer and their coating will be plenty rust resistant even in the south. HKs make excellent options as well.

My first choice that would fit all of your criteria is a Sig P239. It's an alloy frame with a stainless slide, though usually coated black.
Second choice would be the S&W 3913. Again, alloy frame with a stainless slide.
Unfortunately both are discontinued.
An easier to obtain option would be a Springfield XDe and have the slide finished in Hard Chrome, NP3 or similar.
Another possibility in a current production gun would be the Sig P225-A1.

Funny thing is I was considering starting almost this very thread myself. I'd love a stainless, all-steel pistol in 9mm Luger, barely bigger than my PF9, and capable of firing its first shot (if not all shots) from a hammer-at-rest position (hammer, not striker.)

The 39xx Smiths and P239 Sig are nice and may be Goldilocks my issue with them is they're too big to pocket carry and the 69xx Smiths and P229 fit me well and carry just as good IWB.
