Date of Birth please and thank you.

Smith and Wesson its a heavy frame revolver
Barrel is 5-6 inch has ejector shroud .... maybe a n frame?
Caliber on barrel 38 special but it may not be org barrel as when screwed all the may in the ejector rod shroud it vertical and is missing cylinder.
The only markings on it are the smith and Wesson symbols and serial number on butt.
Serial # 183832

I know it's from September 1995, but that's all the info I got from my 686-4 6 inch Challenger .357. I can't seem to find information about it on the web. It has the barrel of a powerport, but there is no hole in front...
Does someone have more info?

Unfortunately the information I have on the Victory model is not precise on dates. They group all the revolvers from the years of the war together.
Here is the listing:
1942 - 1945 --- V1 - V811119
We have no way of knowing exactly when you gun shipped because the numbers of guns made each year are not linear. It's possible your gun was made in 1944. You might want to try asking S&W which year it was shipped. They sometimes supply date info for free but not much more.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

a) caliber - .357 magnum
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle) - 6"
c) grips shape (round or square) - square
d) number of shots/cylinder bores - 6
e) type of sights. - fixed
f) serial number, and if there is a letter in front of or anywhere near the s/n on the bottom of the grip - 56K8040
g) Model number if it is under the crane. - 19-4
That number, if it is the s/n, should come from the butt of the grip (or under the barrel or face of the cylinder).

Thanks ArchAngel. I guess I’d have nothing to lose by asking S&W. If I find out from them or another source I’ll let you know on this thread. Budrow
