Trump to receive CZ 75 "The Republic" edition from Czech PM during today's meeting

Hopefully the Czech Prime Minister spends the time to remind our President the importance of the 2nd Amendment as it relates to tyranny faced by a population. The more I read about the Czech people the more I become fonder of them.

Really nice gun, but then again I'm partial to CZ's.

The gun is well above the value of what people holding officer are allowed to accept as gifts, so it becomes property of the National Archives and will likely end up as a museum piece or in the Trump Library unless he decides to pay market value to purchase it.

Beautiful gun.

From memory, members of the US congress can have weapons in their offices and are allowed to transport them (unloaded) to and from the office. (I say from memory since it has been a long time since read up on that reg.)

Just for comparison. Members of Czech Parliament can CC their firearms hot in the Parliament. Some probably do.

That is if they get CC license as any other civilian (no exceptions). About 25% of them have the license (compared to 3% of population).

It’s cool that they picked grips that match his hair.

Looking at the picture, they don't appear to be wraparounds...
Okay, poking fun aside, I'd be sad I couldn't keep it if I was in that position. I'd have a tough time deciding between displaying it in the office or carrying it under the suit.
Of course, I'd probably want a Springfield or S&W for the look of the thing, or whatever the military is issuing at the time, but the CZ 75 does just happen to be my favorite pistol.

It will go to his presidential library. Some former presidents have living quarters integrated into their libraries (not being political, but you can google who).

Funny story — VP Pence was presented with a lever action rifle by First Liberty as they do with many of their speakers. The FFL goes to the event if the speaker is from out of state, so that the FFL can take the gun back and send it to an FFL in the speakers home state. Pense was smitten with the gift and ran off with it. The secret service wouldn’t let the FFL get it back. The FFL patiently explained the transfer process and ATF regs to the secret service agent, who responded “Son, just write it up for the ATF as it happened, the gun done got stolen by the Vice President of the United States.”

That's really good story. Is there a source for it I can refer to (other than message bords)?

Nice, the President is now a CZ guy...my world is complete. :D

Seriously, it is too bad that gifts become the property of the United States, but it has a good reason behind it, to avoid overt influence peddling, according to theory. Would be nice if he has the option to buy it when he leaves...

Nice gun I once owned perfectly polished 1979 vintage CZ-75 originally exported into Canada by Pragatrade. Nice gun I sold because I had hard time reachng trigger in DA from half cock position.
The Czech Prime Minister will not discuss the Second Amendment because it is of no consequence to the Czechs.
I believe Czech Republic signed the Terezin Declaration. If so they are bound to fulfill reqirements of Act S447. The very first question I would ask is how this effects Czech Republic and its citizens.
I hope meeting went well and the Prime Minister talked from position of strength.

I was speaking in jest; as our leaders need to be reminded by those closer in history to tyranny in their country. We Americans have been lulled into a false sense of security by our elected "public servants" that they will provide the protection we seek. As the Czech's have attempted recently at a 2nd Amendment of sorts for their country (LINK).

A little OT but if you were POTUS would you carry? What?
I might go with a S&W or Ruger,

Yes. I'd expect to be even *less* likely to draw then I am now (since the Secret Service should be doing that while I'm hitting the deck), but no security, no matter how numerous or devoted, is perfect. Granted the rawest Secret Service recruit is probably better than I am (I believe their training goes well beyond the standard Federal Law Enforcement basics), much less someone who's made the Presidential Detail, but I'm not going to have other people standing around ready to die for me and not be willing to fight myself.

There's also the political aspect, of course.

I'd probably continue with my regular CC pistol (S&W M&P 40 full size), since I wouldn't have the spare time to break in a new sidearm.

Of course a Gridley Administration would make Trump look like a boring, middle-ground, non-controversial interlude...

Aiming back to on-topic; while I'm sure the pistol could come in via a diplomatic pouch, and no federal agency would dream of interfering, I wouldn't be surprised if the Secret Service quietly arranged to have the firing pin removed before it was formally presented.

Elected officials have two responsibilities. One to provide safety & security. Two to provide financial well being by creating opportunities alloving as much individual liberties as possible. The electorate needs to evaluate them on these points every election cycle. In America most politicians care about corporations very wealthy individuals and special interest lobby groups. The working class is irrelevant. All they care about is getting money to win elections and promote BS agenda of the party they belong to.

I don't look for the government to create opportunities, they are a leech on equity growth, and we aren't a sovereign country (safety & security) currently with our porous borders. But I digress, the 2nd Amendment's main force is for power in the hands of the people, which my original comment was concerning. I'll stop going in the weeds there, as we are getting off topic and out of bounds of this forum.
