Taurus offering lifetime warranty

I guess having Taurus auto can save lives . Shooter at 5/3rd bank in Cincinnati this summer had a Taurus it jammed giving our men in Blue time to end it

It's manufacturing, you can't catch every mistake and you can't inspect every part, unless you want every gun on the market to double in price to have that done.

When a gun clearly has an issue and doesn't get fixed the first time after being sent in for work, then I swear off the company for good... Marlin.

And again, that can happen with any gun made.

Ordered my Spectrum last Sunday and picked it up yesterday. 2 day shipping like they said.
Instruction manual says to load the mags for at least 48 hours for the complete accommodation of its internal counterparts.
It has a one year warranty..... just sayin what I'm experiencing with the purchase.
I'll get out and shoot it as soon as I have a chance to, with at least 3 different brands of ammo.

Interesting, I have always advocated loading my new mags up to full capacity and let them take a "Set" for a few days. Especially high quality springs that are strong to begin with. This is the first time I have heard of a company putting it into a manual.

I own maybe six or eight Taurii. I have more Smiths, and especially Rugers... maybe the same number of Tanfoglios. So Taurus is in my top four, anyway.

I had one that was a piece of junk, a 32 revolver that I gave to a mechanically talented friend to fiddle with. The other ten or so that I've owned have gone bang every time, although some of the newer ones have had rough triggers.

Two of my first handguns were from Taurus, a medium-framed 4" 357 and a small 2" 38. They both had great triggers. They were stolen in a burglary about 20 years ago.

I still have my PT99 that I bought in 1990. It still functions perfectly. My favorite Taurus is my Old Model 66 from the early 1980's shown below. Only my very best Smiths have a better trigger.

I'm not at all a Taurus fanboy, but it's certainly possible to get reliable firearms from them.

To get the lifetime warranty coverage on a new purchase, I think you are required to send in a warranty registration card within 30 days of the purchase. If you don’t, then only the 1 year warranty will apply. Weird.
Not weird at all. The warranty is only for the original owner. Obviously, in order to do that they have to know who the original owner is.
I always wondered why One Certain Manufacture (will not name) can also have problems, be sent back for repair etc and yet always gets a free ride from bashing. Not only that but be touted by fans as the best. I was just reading about some of these issues with that manufacturer on this very forum. And of course no one better say a thing about them.
If you're talking about who I think you're talking about, they're far from getting a, "free ride from bashing".

Yea, but if I post on this or other forum that I just purchased a Sig, the thread isn't going to disintegrate into what all Taurus threads disintegrate into... The stories being told (with the exception of Plumberroy's story), the links being shared by hookeye, and the video that was posted are all stuff that happened years ago from models that have been discontinued or have been upgraded to solve the older issues.

The Taurus model in video that was posted was never imported into the U.S. (not even one), was a batch that was specifically made for L.E. in Brazil, was promptly recalled, and, like most of the negative Taurus stories, happenned years ago with a model that's no longer being produced.

Meanwhile, Sig and friends have been in the news almost nonstop over the past couple of years for major safety and design flaws as well as spotty QC, and they are being treated with kids gloves compared to how a budget manufacturers would be treated if they had the same problem...

Yep Jeb, it's the first time I have ever seen fully load the mags in a manual for 48 hours too.
I stand corrected about my warranty. I called Taurus and they did confirm that I have a limited lifetime warranty. Guns purchased after March 1 qualify for the warranty .The manual states one year and isn't updated yet. Sorry for any confusion I created.

I own 2- a 462 and a 94
Both are broken
One sent back to factory under lifetime warranty. Cost me $66. It came back unfixed.
Other one will stay broken.
I’ve learned my lesson!
My lifetime warranty is life is too short to worry with Taurus!

How long ago was this? Both models you mentioned seem to be discontinued, or am I mistaken? Like just about all Taurus complaints, yours seems to be based on a discontinued model from years ago back when they were having issues.

462 357 mag

Since then 462 now has a liability recall that Taurus is dragging their feet on backing up.

94 22 LR
Chipped firing pin with no parts available to fix.

Like I said, life is just too short to deal with Taurus and their lifetime warranty.

When I buy a gun, I expect it to last my lifetime. I’m not into buying disposable guns.
Maybe I expect to much?

It sounds like the same CS and firearms they (Taurus) is noted for is still in effect.

I have an old 66 revolver that is on par with any other companies. I also have a titanium with a cracked cylinder still unrepaired. Life is too short to trust a Taurus when there are better offerings.

If you have had great luck and success with Taurus products and CS, I say great! But that hasn’t been my experience.

I can't speak for there warranty service as I never used it, and that seems to be their main complaint. As far as it being the same firearms and same problems, the firearms Catpop mentioned have been discontinued for several years which is why there aren't any parts to fix one of them, and according to another post he wrote not to long ago, the 462 was manufactured sometime in the 80s and he purchased it used back around 2012 or so. I wouldn't say that is representation of current Taurus offerings, would you?

To be honest, the amount of time I heard it takes for warranty work to be completed is a turn off for me. The other turnoff that I've heard about is that Taurus has a "restricted parts" policy. That is, they refuse to sell many internal parts directly to customers. If a firing pin or something breaks, you'll have to send it to them to fix it warranty or not. With that said, I don't recall seeing even one Taurus firearm that was mentioned in this thread being a recent purchase, and almost all of the firearms mentioned have been discontinued. I'm not saying that they are currently on par fit and finish wise as a Smith, Ruger, Colt, etc, and I do not believe their C/S is on par with Ruger for example. What I I' am saying is that even though their warranty service might not be the best, these are generally $200 +/- firearms. That is, they cost 2x-5x less than most NIB Rugers, Colts, S&W, etc, and IMHO, they are reliable. There's a reason why most of the negativity Taurus gets is based on passed models, and why you hear very little complaints about their current offerings.
