I'm helping my mother in dealing with some of the things my father bought over the years. I'm pretty good at helping with the guns, but I know next to naught about knives. She handed me one over the weekend and said it was a "Lile One Dot" that my dad bought about in the late 1980s. I've attached some pictures and hope that some of you fine folks can help me determine the value, or at least point me to some resources where I can get an idea of what it's worth.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry sir, my 800 page reference books don't mention Lyle
Google and Bing also failed
The only thing I can think of is
Call Base Research Foundation and see if they remember the 87 knife what it cost and how many were made.
Some of Kyle's one off customs are going for 10K on ebay.

Jimmy Lile 1987 stag handled fillet Bass Research sold at Bladeforums several years ago for around $500. It was mint with no marks or pits.

Keep it out of the sheath and wipe the guard off with a silver polishing cloth (nothing else). Follow with light oil.

I'd recommend selling it on A.G. Russell.

BTW, I don't see a dot so I don't think it is a "one dot".

Finally my kind of knife (I'm too old for soldiering or police work anymore...). That's a gorgeous custom made filet knife - for freshwater use... and if I was guessing... was made for presentation. The filet knives I use for saltwater aren't nearly as nice looking but pretty much survive years of hard use in a very corrosive environment...

All of my serious fish cutting knives are by Forschner, and are simply stainless steel Victorinox butcher knives called breaking knives or scimiters

Mora of Sweden makes some filet knives that work well, but certainly aren't fancy. Inexpensive, but good quality, stainless, and hold an edge well.

And Swedish stainless will not rust like Chinese stainless, even in a salt water atmosphere.

That Lile is pretty and well made, but I wouldn't want to abuse it by actually using it for its theoretical intended purpose. lol
