Beretta 92X -- I need one

I really want to like it, but this is the antithesis if the word”streamline”.

I’m sure it’s very functional but I’m struggling.

If I see one in person my mind may be changed in a hurry.

Steel frame? Safety in the better place? I think I'll be wanting one of those. I'm a sucker for a steel framed fullsized gun, and need a friend for my Sig P226 SSE:

Support hand index finger on the front of the trigger guard has been out of favor for at least 20 years.

Interesting. I must have missed that memo. Then again, the last time I trained with an M9 was exactly 20 years ago.

Now that you mention it, that trigger guard on the 92X is pretty close to that of the old 92S. It was one of the two reasons I never bought one of the Italian police trade ins from Classic Firearms.

Had I received the memo on "Support hand index finger on the front of the trigger guard has been out of favor for at least 20 years," I might would have bought one.

And at the price of the 92X, I might would have bought FOUR of the 92S.

I ove the Berretta / Taurus 92 family of pistols. I have 3 in my house. They beat the crap out of all plastic blocky looking things on the market these days

I’ll never understand the concern about the appearance of a functional firearm. I guess if it looks cool that’s a plus, but if it performs well I really don’t care.
I have always avoided Berettas and smiths because of the slide mounted safety. The frame safety and steel frame appeal to me.

I like the features the 92X has to offer (steel Vertec frame, adjustable rear sight, and frame mounted ambi safety), but not at that price.

I prefer the smooth lines of a traditional 92fs, but the features here are certainly a functional improvement. I think that aggressive beavertail looks handy. I bet I could really torque my hand into it with a high hold and maintain control under recoil.

The slide really is ugly though lol

No decocker... No sale!

I have owned my 92 INOX for almost 30 years and it is one of my favorite guns. It has been my bed side gun for most of that time... chambered, decocked, safety on. That is what I am used to and that is the condition I expect a gun to be in when I am awoken in the middle of the night. I like my CZ75D compact but I miss the safety.

If the 92X has a decocker as well as the frame safety I am in... even though I have never considered a need to own a second 92... I will never wear my first one out. I really like the replacable sites and that it comes with fiber sites. I also like the picitiny rail... I would really like a flashlight on my bed side gun.

I DETEST the black barrel and controls!!!!! INOX is supposed to be ALL silver!

Oh yeah... it isn't a match gun unless there are hogue finger groove grips available for it.

Its aimed at the USPSA/IPSA Production crowd... Where the big heavy DA/SA guns dominate the competition.

Rather obviously so. It's a bit unfortunate in its timing, as the indications are that the huge Production wave may finally be ending, with PCC and CO attracting a lot more attention. This would have been a good market strategy from Beretta - in 2015. They'll probably sell some, but there's a good chance it's too-little-too-late to rehabilitate them as a major player in the practical games.
