Wow! Go tomcat!
Yeah, I was pretty happy with that one.

Thanks!

In comparison, I tried it with my NAA .22 revolver and couldn’t hit the paper.

Turns out the ammo I was shooting was tumbling when I tried at 3 yards. o_O
It still likes CCI Stingers, though.

Maybe a rimfire pistol challenge next month.

Well I went to the range today to shoot this challenge and while I was at the bench, unpacking my range bag, I realized I left the printed targets on the kitchen table.

I hope to get back this week to shoot the challenge. Great submissions so far!

The LC9 is actually a little more accurate than the Sig, but I like a 6 o'clock hold. The Sig the hold was spot on, the Ruger I had to cover 3//4 of the black target and it opened up my group a bit.

greetings,

just for grins & giggles I took my old S&W .32 hand ejector for a spin.
it is a .32 long
I didn't expect much, considering those tiny sights - and my tired eyes.
however, I was pleasantly surprised
I shot all DA

first up was Magtech 98 gr wadcutter - score of 77

IFZ72Az.jpg

next was PPU 98 gr LRN - score 76
should have been better, but I blew one out of the scoring rings

PdZZtPc.jpg

finally, the old timer

ulKFbk3.jpg

sure was nice shooting something with no recoil!
also hard to imagine at one time this was a police caliber - different days for sure!

greetings,

went to the range around 9 PM and got my self an education
M36, Black Hills 158 gr conical
shot DA - score 37

I don't know if it was my technique - or a malfunction in the gun
at any rate, the cylinder would rotate and lock up, but the hammer refused to drop
sooner or later it did fall, but with pretty disastrous results to accuracy!!!

UrSbZRu.jpg

any ideas?

greetings,

part 2 of my education
Charter Arms bulldog
Federal 200 gr LSWC-HP
shot DA, score 75 1X

I've had this gun for about 40 years, and always enjoyed shooting it
not so last night, after the five sighters I wouldn't have minded quitting
the last five took a lot of will power to pull the trigger
my hand still hurts this AM - guess the arthritis wins again

vNSQGqP.jpg

this has been my most favored carry gun for years, but I think I'm going to be forced to downsize :(

Check for interference between the hammer spur and the top of the grip? Make sure your finger isn't too deep into the trigger and maybe stopping against the left side of the grip? Maybe it needs a good cleaning?

HMMM, all good points
my hand is a bit bigger, and works well on N frames - I need to pay more attention to my grip.

thanks

My last entry because my last gun that qualifies for the challenge, Russian Makarov. After I did the target with 6 rounds left in the box I adjusted the sights to hit in the center overall but didn't have the ammo to do another 10 shots after than so my entry the group is high and right. Fiocchi ammo didn't shoot any better and my entry with Silver Bear ammo beat the try with Fiocchi. I really like this gun though pleasant to shoot, got it for $130 new in box back in the day they first came over. The photo loaded sideways sorry. I used a local indoor range today, prefer outdoors but didn't feel like driving a hour to get there.

My last entry for the challenge. This was the second time out with my new Bersa Thunder 380. Hard to see the POI as the wind was really cranking and lifting the target but it looks like an 88 or 89?

Okay, going for "shots breaking a scoring ring receive the higher value", not sure if that is quite correct per the OP, but going with it anyway! Makes me feel better!

87
M&P Shield 45
Federal HST 230 +P

My sighter group on the other target was about as perfect as anyone could ask (not where I wanted it, but a spectacular -for me- group). After I switched targets I started shaking a bit, hands started sweating, etc. Couldn't quite pull off what I wanted. Oh well. Still got to go shoot.

Why did I shoot HST +P? Well... It's been too long since I shot any carry ammo. Got a few boxes recently of this HST and I wanted to try out the new stuff.

Was hoping to shoot my "new" FEG .32, but just barely beat the buzzer with this one. Next time. Maybe. If I feel like it.

Why is everyone else's target different? I printed the one in the link in the OP. Has it changed since the thread started? I should have noticed that before now!

greetings,

thought I'd give my wife's S&W M3913 bit of a workout too and try some new ammo.
first try was Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr flexlock
score: 40 - obviously not a spectacular choice!

8jwtAOg.jpg

second try was Hornady critical defense 115 gr FTX
score: 76 - and much better POI to POA

lcZ6cu2.jpg

finally the gun

jygNEHw.jpg

obviously I'll have to re-shoot and verify the results, but I'll gladly take one for the team :D

greetings,

another try with one of wife's guns
Ruger Speed Six in 9mm
first try American Eagle 147 gr TMJ
score: 37
not a bad group, but POI is way low and left

9DDGifX.jpg

second try was Lawman 147 gr TMJ
score: 50
looks like 147 gr isn't the magic bullet for this gun

ODXHfcx.jpg

finally a pic of the old timer

I just realized I missed the boat on this challenge! Maybe he'll extend it another month like the single action challenge.

image.jpg image.jpg Not as steady as the good ole days. Had my aorda valve replaced last fall (open heart surgery) and not been doing much practice since. This was standing with both hands.

Pretty good shooting considering you had your ribcage ratcheted open a few short months ago.

To me, the whole point of the challenge is just to get out there and do it. Or in my case, get out of my rut of close range steel silhouette shooting and try for more accuracy.

I've been practicing this challenge since posting my results. My groups have gotten tighter and my scores have gone up. Plus I'm having fun. Keep at it, friend! You might get your scores back to the good ole days yet!

I am due for another progressive glasses. Checking targets this afternoon, I noticed while left lense was sharp, right lense was fuzzy (I shoot with right eye). Dang, downloaded the wrong target ... really need new glasses.

Because you used a B-2 target not a B-3. Good shooting.

Alright friends the official contest is over however you are free to keep submitting if you want because it has been a interesting thread.

I looked it over well, what I see we actually have a tie, congrats to BC17A with his S&W Shield .45 post 63 and Saleen332 with his Ruger LC9 post 103 who both scored as far as I can see 98-5X. bc17A's target got pretty shredded but best I can tell it's 5X.

I must say lots of great scoring, lots of nice groups from members which concealed carry "pocket" guns are not made for accuracy foremost. Seems the Ruger LC and S&W Shield were two popular handguns owned and submitted. Glad to see some revolvers were submitted also and glad you had fun .

Oh good grief! I didn't scroll down! Thought there was only one target in the link. I'll have to remember that one for next time!

If you are looking for suggestions for next month... Service-sized pistol?

Thanks for hosting this match! I had fun, and dusted off the Shield that fits the whole "carried a lot, shot a little" stereotype.

Next challenge will be rimfire handgun same rules and B16 25yd target that the single action challenge is. You are free to keep adding to this thread for the sake of fun and testing with pocket guns though.

Service gun as well as other possible challenges are on the agenda though. I just don't want to overwhelm myself and others with too many challenged going at once.
