Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods usually have the best prices around Augusta, ME for Federal Auto-Match. But the best part is that they're on the way to the Shooting Club range. :)

Auto-Match is really great for indoor offhand shooting with my sporter rifles, or outdoor for shooting at my steel silhouettes offhand out to 50 yards. They work really well in my handguns too. I usually have at least five 325-round boxes on my ammo shelves.

The Rem 504 loves them.

Yes, many like Federal Auto-Match. I believe moderator Walkalong is one of many fans.

And for lower cost 22LR, for me CCI Blazer has consistently produced smallest shot groups out of my Ruger 10/22 Take Down. But now I see CCI Blazer in 2 different weights (40 gr boxed and 38 gr bulk 525 round "Value Pack") so will see if bulk 525 round box is accurate as well.

FYI, here is a comparison range test article of 31 different 22LR including cheaper bulk packs obtaining sub 1" groups at 50 yards - https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2018/10/16/31-different-22-lr-loads

I am, even though my S&W M-41 doesn't like them, because other guns do. Also a fan of Blazer, and the Aguila standard and high velocity also does pretty well for the money. I have never tried the Armscore. Lot's of good low cost .22 ammo out there. Your gun will surely shoot well with one of them.

I have never tried the Armscor
Starting from $30/500, never thought this thread would ever go down below $15/500 shipped for plated 22LR!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I bought a bunch at $14.88/500 shipped after watching below video (Accuracy testing starts at 12:15 minute mark of video).

My initial testing of boxed Armscor 36 gr CP HP (Actual color more brass like Golden Saber) with Ruger 10/22 Take Down is showing promise with definite accuracy edge over bulk Federal 36/38 gr CP HP and more comparable to boxed Aguila 40 gr CP RN which are second most accurate behind boxed CCI Blazer 40 gr LRN.

Even at $16.60/500 shipped, Armscor 36 gr CP HP will provide more accurate plinking fun than cheapest Walmart Federal 550 round red box (Just under $18/500) which are worst in accuracy for my 10/22 Take Down. I plan to shoot up bulk Walmart/Federal in GSG 1911 for closer distance point shooting drills and use boxed Armscor for longer distance plinking with 10/22 and ARs with CMMG conversion bolt.

Dick's Sporting Goods is totally boycotted now by large numbers of gun owners. This means the entire store chain.
Apparently others don't mind that Dick's banned AR-15s, because the rifles are evil. They could offer unlimited 500-rd. bricks of .22LR at $5.00 and they would still not receive a cent from me.

Linux Mint: thanks for starting this topic. I had no idea that so many prices were so low.
If I knew that all of the brands you describe function well in M&P (Standard) .22s, I would try more of them. After the first blue boxes of Federal Champion had issues (Auto Match is fine), I stayed with Golden Bullet, Win. and a few others.

You are welcome and actually, bds is my THR ID and Linux Mint is the open source Operating System I run on computers at home.

I actually have better news to report on current batch of 22LRs. In my and friend's 10/22s, various ARs with CMMG 22LR conversion kits and GSG 1911, Federal 36 gr CP HP blue 525 round/red 550 round bulk pack, Federal 38 gr CP HP, CCI Blazer LRN, Aguila Lead/CP RN, Armscor 36 gr CP HP all have been very reliable with almost no duds. They cycled all of my firearms without issues.

Issues I am having are with Remington Thunderbolt and Winchester M22 CP RN with few duds for each bulk box.

As to accuracy, CCI Blazer has been the most accurate followed by Aguila and Armscor. Federal bulk packs have been the least accurate with Winchester M22 bulk pack not too far behind. Here's my 22LR accuracy thread showing 25 yard shot groups - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-thickness-for-accuracy.850634/#post-11113638

I recently picked up 555rd brick of copper jacket remington for $14 at my LGS. I was pretty happy to see it for that. Like mid 90's pricing. I went to a different gun shop and same box of 555 was $45

Remington Thunderbolt 40 gr Lead RN (1255 fps) $129.99/5000 ($12.99/500) with $5 shipping
So approx. 2.7 cents each, including shipping.
Ooops, I forgot to add $5 shipping. Price should be $13.49/500.

Being no fan of Thunderduds, I'd rather pay another penny or so and buy something else.
I agree. Thunderbolts have been the most problematic as to failure to ignite, failure to cycle and subsequent failure to feed in my 10/22 and my friend's 10/22 and I stopped buying them. And since I also shoot 22LR in my ARs with CMMG conversion kits, I currently only buy copper plated 22LR.

But there are other THR members who post success with them, so I posted the Natchez promotion for their benefit.

Thank you for posting!

I actually seem to like the thunderbolts, I bought 3 bricks recently and have had minimal duds, 1-3 per brick. Way better than the Winchester at about 1 dud per 20!

I jumped on the 13.49/500 deal!

It's back with limited quantities. Last time, this sold out fast. I stocked up big time with this for retirement.

(UPDATE 6/14/19 = SOLD OUT = Cabela's
has Armscor 36 gr CP HP (1247 fps) for $14.88/500 with 2-day free shipping on $50+ orders - https://www.cabelas.com/product/sho...edium=AFF&utm_source=56335&rid=12&WT.tsrc=AFF

This by far is the lowest price I have seen this past year for CP HP 22LR.

For me, this has been the second most accurate CP HP 22LR behind Aguila 40 gr CP RN.

11:37 minute mark of video shows accuracy testing of Ruger 10/22.

Target number two.
American Eagle Suppressor AE22SUP1
.22LR 45gr
No lot # available
50 rounds
No failures of any kind.

CCI Quiet-22 CCI0960
.22LR 40gr
No lot # available
10 rounds
Failure to eject all rounds.
Not shooting the rest of the box.
On several shots, I could feel the slide returning home, so there was at least some energy to attempt to cycle, but clearly not enough to do anything useful. Case was never ejecting. Definitely not appropriate for this gun.

CCI Clean-22 CCI934CC
.22LR 40gr
Lot #D27A102
Very nice shooting.
No failures.

Winchester M-22 S22LRTSU8
.22LR 45gr
Lot #K7620
Failure to eject last round, 2nd magazine.
Ammo was a bit spitty. I was getting hit with stuff on my left arm specifically.

CCI Stinger-22 CCI0050
.22LR 32gr
Lot #L27Z203
Holy *!#$ the fireball this thing puts out!
First 10 picture shows I got spooked on a couple of shots just from the craziness of this round.
The recoil impulse is impressive.
Failure to ignite, round 5, 5th magazine.
Ignited on second attempt, removal and rechambered.

I gotta say I liked the results with the CCI Clean and AE Suppressor stuff. Both were easier on the ears than your standard supersonic .22's, and they shot REALLY well out of the M9-22, as the targets show.

Like last time, Armscor 22LR SOLD OUT.
Thanks for the heads up! I managed to get a small order in yesterday, ship to store.

Don't really need it at this point, but hard to pass up a bargain and it won't go bad. If things go south in a year or two, I'm sure I'll be glad I got it.
