The coolest FICTIONAL guns ...

The Smartguns from the RPG "Shadowrun". You have a cybernetic eye and mentally tag your targets. When you draw the gun, there is a link on the palm of your hand that activates the smartgun. It then fires full auto at the designated targets as the barrel is swept pass them.

I have to go with 'Abomination' Owen Pitt's Saiga-based, grenade-launching shotgun from the Monster Hunter series.

"Exactly how many gun laws does this break?" ... "All of them."

I don't know about "cool" -- but here's a tip-of-the-hat to old world technology in the future...

In the "Arena" episode of ST:TOS, Capt. Kirk fashioned himself a crude cannon, and concocted a mix of sulfur, saltpeter, and coal for propellant. He used raw diamonds as the projectiles.

Seen here drilling a touch-hole into a bamboo pipe he reinforced with cord.

With surprising realism for the day, the cannon "worked," but came close to killing Kirk also... :)

On family guy I love that all shotguns are pump shotguns, even when they break open, are double barreled, and fave exposed hammers. They also don’t have magazines but never run out of rounds.

While I am a great Trek fan, and liked that episode, you cannot just stuff charcoal, sulfur, and saltPeter down a barrel and get blackpowder like that. Blackpowder is created by mixing it with a solvent (water) which truly combines the chemicals, drying the mixture out, then grinding it to a certain granularity.
In real life, Kirk would have died. Starter 52's statement about Kirk surviving by giving it to the Gorn was nearly correct.
I don't know how Mythbusters did their bamboo cannon test but they must have cheated somewhere if they blew it up.

^^^^Myth busters did a segment on that weapon. Every time they tried to fire one it blew up.

They concluded that to win the fight Kirk's best bet was to give the cannon to the Gorn.

IIRC they did it on holywood weapons aswell....I think? LOL

Van helsings fully automatic crossbow was neat.
Robocops pistols as another mentioned was nice too.
The briefcase gun from goldeneye (n64) was pretty impressive as was the sentry gun on the same game.

For some reason, I'm partial to the N99 10mm pistol.

As a long time 10mm fan it was more than a little perturbing that the 10mm was utterly useless in the games. Almost as bad as the 22.

I think that one could deduce most of our ages from this one thread.
