Someone on the MLF bought a new Traditions Pietta 1851 Colt .44 and found that it had a broken handspring by the time that he went to the range to fire it for the first time.
It took Traditions almost exactly 4 weeks before they were able to fix it and ship it back.
Traditions received the gun on March 7th and he received it back at his home on April 11th.

Cabela's sells the Pietta 1851 .36 for $249.99 with free shipping at this time.
But the same gun from Old South at $219 without free shipping comes with the 1 year Traditions warranty which has some value.
One local outfit used to call it P.O.M.G. - "Piece of Mind Guarantee"
I have to admire Old South and Traditions for providing Cabela's with some price & service competition, at least while it's available at that price.

I do believe, but don't quote me but Cabela's still charges a tax fee thats total's to 19.99 plus 249.99 which equals 269.98. They have free shipping. Where as the shipping plus cost at Old South comes up less than that. If you put in your zip code, estimate comes to around 230.10 but It could vary along with a tax at checkout. So thats around 40 dollars less if the guns are good!

I believe that's true that some online retailers do charge state sales tax especially if they have a presence in your state.
The state sales tax for me even if ordering online would amount to almost $16 more than the advertised price.

We have a Cabela's about 80 miles from our home in the same state. I bought a Pietta 1851 Navy online for $170 delivered free shipping a few years ago during a one-day sale and no sales taxes were levied. Maybe it was a bookkeeping fluke as it was shipped from Sidney NE.

Oh, for the good old days!

Well perhaps times have now changed.
They will now charge Nebraska's state sales tax on the full amount of the order plus on the entire shipping charge if any.
Many states have tightened up their state sales tax enforcement on larger internet retailers.
See this Cabela's state sales tax collection chart.--->>> https://www.cabelas.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=SalesTax&WT.tsrc=CRD&WT.mc_id=tax

There's only 5 states that Cabela's does not charge state sales tax for online orders.

States that Do Not Charge Sales Tax:
Alaska
Delaware
Montana
New Hampshire
Oregon

There was a Supreme Court ruling and now some Congressman are thinking about creating a uniform sales tax exemption threshold below which a small business wouldn't need to charge the tax.
It depends on how many transactions a company does with a state's residents, or after a gross amount of sales to a state.
It seems very complicated, so many large companies just charge the tax.
This article will make your head spin just like some small business owners are.--->>> https://reason.com/2019/03/19/the-supreme-courts-online-sales-tax-ruli/

If a person wants to avoid the tax, buy from a small business or an individual.
And ask if they charge tax before you buy.

Just spent some $$$ on off road lighting for my truck. Private dirt rock road I live off is very dark at night. Going to see about lighting it up.
