Awesome! Thank you very much. Hopefully shooting it this weekend

Grips obviously are not the factory grips and they don't fit very well. but nothing wrong with them if they are comfortable to shoot. You can find a set of correct wood grips on EBay. Your gun is too nice not to at least have a set of correct grips even if you do have a “shooting” set. I picked several sets of the Sile grips shown in picture on eBay for less than $20 a set. Probably the most comfortable set of grips I’ve ever had on a J frame. Small enough for concealed carry but large enough to get all your fingers on the grip. Not trying to tell you what to do with your gun, but just a suggestion that might help you enjoy it better

a) 38 s&w special
b) bbl length 5"
c) grips shape round
d) 6 shot
e) fixed sights
f) serial number 101xxx no letter
g) Model number none

A picture or two is worth A LOT of words in this case...
Thank you so much for doing this. I came into these 2 Smith &Wesson revolvers for a song and stumbled upon this thread. The nickle revolver I am more curious about.

a) caliber 22 rimfire
b) bbl length 4"
c) grips shape round with grips making it square
d) number of shots 6
e) type of sights adjustable
f) serial number, 84xxx
g) Model number 34-1

Probably around 1963 if there is not a "M" prefix before serial number
If there is a M Prefix it would have shipped around 1976-77

I'm guessing around 1907
Would you know the model or name of this revolver. It is double action only if that helps?

Lnk
It would be called a S&W Military and Police Hand Ejector or just M&P. I think yours is in the group of 2nd or 3rd change but that really doesn't matter a whole lot. It is still a M&P

My wife’s Dad got this gun from his Dad and then he passed away about a year ago. He died very unexpectedly so all of his stuff goes to his wife, of course. She wants me to see what I can find out about it. Thanks for your help
