Which gun brings you the most satisfaction?

I'de have to say my "custom" 4-digit Universal Carbine-
index-37.jpg
It was already pretty accurate when I got it, but after fitting it with a GI trigger group and properly adjusting the recoil plate, it is near magical. So easy and fun to shoot, not bad lookin', either!

Universal made some questionable stuff in later years, but I would take THIS one over either of my GI carbines. It's that good.

Since I own so few, all of them. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses, but it simply adds to my enjoyment of each of them. Yes, even my cranky and fussy Walther P22 I whine about all the time here. It still fills a niche in my tiny arsenal and I'd be hard-pressed to replace it at this point in time.

Most satisfaction and enjoyable to shoot, ranked in order at the moment, happens to be one from each major category...

I thought about this a little longer. "the most satisfaction". 1911 will always be my old stand by for most satisfaction.

But this one brings me the most satisfaction I guess. 20190504_152654.jpg 20190504_152759.jpg It was satisfying to build. A pain to brown. Satisfying to touch off my first powder charge with flint. Satisfying to see the big smoke cloud clear and the coffee can knocked down. And I bet it will be the most satisfying when I take a whitetail with it.

This kit I found in a garbage can in Minneapolis, mostly complete (no, I wasn't dumpster diving). Pretty dang satisfying finding something for free by chance, building it and getting some cheap laughs shooting it with friends and family. 20190504_152931.jpg

This one. Made everything myself, except for the barrel, springs and screws. 4140 steel, heat treated to 40 on the C scale. Might be the only 30-06 rolling block on the planet. Proofed at 85,000 PSI. Shoots like a dream.

The gun looks a bit out of proportion in the first pic....it's just the camera angle.

I will say whatever I have in my hands when I'm shooting but lately it is my Rem 870 slug gun.

I put it together over the last few years from a basic 870 Express, but put a thumbhole stock on it, a rifled barrell, and a Nikon PS3 2-7x 200 BDc scope. I'm working with different slugs to see if I can tighten up the groups. Maybe a trigger job is next.

Not a fancy choice but I miss shooting my AR15s/M4 platform. When I was in the military I got to shoot a good bit but now that I’m out I just can’t get any kicks standing at an indoor range shooting paper with it.

I always drool over that range in Houston that Colion Noir films at. I’d pay just about any amount of money to get to spend a day at a range like that.

It’s a Taylor’s & Co. Drifter in 357 Magnum. It mostly sees a diet of hand loaded 38’s. A blast to shoot.

That's really good looking, let's look up the msrp for fun......
That's actually not bad......uh-oh..... quick look up something more expensive before you want to buy something.

This gives me both, the most satisfaction, and frustration

But as I6Turbo pointed out, there really isn't just 1, my SiG 556 SBR makes many trips to the range as does my SiG550 and AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor for 600+ yard accuracy, and pretty much all my HK's but particularly the MP5SD and 52 clone (7.62x39) with the registered sear, are also quite satisfying.

When it comes to pistols, it's hard to beat a tuned Ruger MKIII Hunter for 22LR, a SiG 226 Elite or CZ 75 Sport Tactical and Shadow2 for 9mm or an original Kimber Stainless National Match 1911 for 45acp

The gun that I get the most satisfaction from shooting is my original model 1884 Springfield trap door which I shoot several times a month. With advice from a few people on this forum I developed a load that comes very close to duplicating the ballistics of the original black powder load but with smokeless powder (much easier cleanup). I am well over 70 and my eyesight is not nearly what it was 20 years ago but on a good day I can put most rounds into a 5 inch circle at 100 yds. Pretty cool for old eyes with iron sights and a 130 year old rifle. Whenever I shoot it i think about the fact that these were used by Custer's men at Little Big Horn and were also used by some of Teddy Roosevelt's men at San Juan Hill. I love the history of these old military rifles. Now I'm looking for a Krag.

I would have to say it's a toss up between my 45acp Tanfoglio Witness and my Taurus PT92C. Both are 1990's model guns.

I have a ton of guns.
I have several sentimental guns.
I have no skill with guns beyond safe handling and pointy end towards target.
I have shot a great many guns.
I LOVE my revolvers.

All of that being said I keep coming back to the HK P7M8/M13 as the Guns that always give me the most “satisfaction”. Everything from how well I shoot them, to their reliability, to their engineering, to their unique manual of arms, to their relative rarity. I just always leave with a smile when I shoot my P7s.

I've been thinking about the question and conclude that I can't answer. I have a nice, modest collection of shooters, and I get great satisfaction from all of them. Any that I don't enjoy get traded off or sold. My interest tends to cycle. Sometimes I am infatuated with developing loads for a wildcat rifle, other times I enjoy training with a semi-automatic pistol. And the .357 and .44 caliber revolvers are always fun. Just no way to attribute "greatest satisfaction" to any particular firearm except in the existential moment.
