If diameter of the cylinder on all Charter large frame revolvers is 1.452 and a Mag Pug is built on a large frame - then why only 5 shots? Why not 6? What am I missing? The K frame is 1.446.

It’s a .357, correct? I would imagine it’s a built-in safety margin judging by the higher operating pressures of the .357.

Probably because Charter did want to go to the trouble/expense of making 2 different cylinders for the gun. Also, Colt Cobra(new ones) and the Mag Carry .357s had even smaller diameter cylinders than the K frame.

Hi, I do know the Charter Police Undercover is the same size frame as the Mag Pug and it is a 6 shot 38 special. My guess is they wanted the built in safety margin for the higher pressure .357 cartridge and kept the cylinder walls thicker for that.

^ Correct. They have the ability or room for 6 but use 5. In the same amount of space S&W makes a 357. Also previously Charter made a 6 shot 9mm.

Per CA customer service ...

6 rounds capacity caused extraction issues and the chambers were to thin for 6 rounds.

I looking for a more complete answer. I kinda feel like I received a generic answer.
