Which Polymer 45 ACP are you enjoying for target shooting

Agree whole heartedly on the M&P45 2.0. Mine is very accurate with surprisingly low recoil. This and the Glock 41 are becoming my favorite target guns besides the 1911 of course.

M&P 45 2.0!

For about $400 it's a great gun. Has a grip that's not a 2x4 and so easy to shoot. I say this as someone that is much more of a 9mm guy.

No surprise here. But how much did you pay for that Mark 23? The OP set forth a budget of $800.
 
I was at a indoor range a year or so ago and the guy next to me was shooting a HK45 compact. He let me shoot a mag through it, I was dumbfounded at how soft and accurately it shot. I have 3 1911s but if I ever bought another.45 it would be that HK, really a sweet shooter.
 
I will repeat all those suggesting consideration of a M&P, much under your budget. I have the 2.0. Fits my hand and is comfortable to shoot.

I've also had a Glock 21 and still a G30. I prefer the M&P for target shooting, though the 30 is one of my preferred carry guns.
 
My .45 Shield is rough on the hand and my XDm 5.25 in .45acp has been converted to .460 Rowland so... non. It looks like I need another pistol.

That’s exactly how I felt about my HK USP when I bought the FNP45. Super accurate and more aesthetically please to me than the USP.
I bought an extended threaded barrel for it and running an Osprey suppressor. I can draw you a smiley face on the target at 15 yards without thinking too hard about it. I love my FNP 45.

I had an XD in .45 ACP once, it was a pretty nice gun, but when I needed trade fodder one day........it left in preference of my 1911 and my CZ-97.

How does the FNX9 compare to your FNP45, specifically around trigger reach in DA? That's my sole complaint with my FNX45 so far, is that the reach in DA is a tad long for me. I'm curious because tere's been a used FNX9 for sale locally that I've been thinking about picking up as well.
 
Naturally it is a bit shorter due to the narrower and smaller grip of the 9mm but it is only by a little bit. I’m running the flat grip inserts on both guns..
The FNX9 does feel better in my hand. I do carry the FNX9 a lot, the FNP45 is just a range toy.
 
Metal guns are for target shooting. Plastic guns are for carrying.

Nothing will replace my worked over 1911's for target shooting, competition gun or range gun.

My XDs 3.3 45 acp is not much fun to shoot but it is really nice for carrying.

My XD mod 2 compact .45 acp is a great home protection gun, a good carry gun and a pretty decent gun at the shooting range especially with the 13 round extended magazine. I really like my XDm2 and practice with it often... but it is no 1911.... not even close!
 
My three favorite polymer .45ACP in no particular order are the M&P 45, XD 45, and Kimber BP.

But as I get older and my grip and joints ain't what they used to be, so I'm enjoying the steel frame guns a whole lot more lately -- RIA 1911-A2 (Para P14 clone), Witness Elite Match, Witness Limited.

The HK45 is selling for around $650 now from lots of different dealers. My LGS can get one in for around that price in 5 days from his distributor. No shipping and no transfer fee, just sales tax.

I'm seriously thinking about buying one at that price. I don't own any plastic but jeez that looks like a lot of pistol for the money. I'll have to switch to FMJ to load for it but the extra cost is about 5 cents so no big deal. I like the fact that it has the same ergonomics as my 1911's.

Sitting on the fence hurts my butt.

Handle that be before you decide. The safety lever is pretty firm so you may be fine unless you really ride it hard.

There’s also the LEM trigger that eliminates the safety lever.

Just checked one out at the LGS yesterday. I don't think it's going to be a problem. Dang, that's a nice pistol. Tried to rent one at the range yesterday but no luck, they didn't have one. HK doesn't seem to be real popular around here.

As far as polymer guns go I definitely agree. It screens utilitarian fighting pistol to me. No real frills, just a functional 45 for getting you out of a bad situation.

The trough in the bottom of the trigger guard didn’t bother you?

Night sights can be had for like $120 I think from HKparts.net. If you have a sight pushing tool that is.

The number of HKs available in my area has quadrupled where I live in the last 5 years or so. I think their price drop has really helped bring them to a more competitive place with the civilian market.

I paid $1000 for my HK45! Now, you can get one for under $800.

If they adapt that model into a 10mm I’d have one so fast it’d make my head spin.

Everything feels fine to me but I've never shot one. I have a dealer here that will sell a new V1 for $650. Of course we have a pretty high sales tax so that's going to push it over $700. The one I looked at was used. Price was $200 over new so they aren't keeping up with the market. Looks like the same situation on gunbroker, lots of really high prices. HK must have just dropped the prices recently.

Don't really need night sights. I've got those on all my SD pistols (Sigs).

I think I just talked myself into placing and order online.:D I really like that pistol.
