Hey folks, wondering who here has experience with the security 9 series. Issues? Good experiences? Overall thoughts. Reliability?

I'm mainly interested in the new security 9 compact. There isn't a whole lot on them yet. Only seen one negative review for the compact on YouTube. Guy was getting light strikes because the firing pin was too sharp and cutting out some of the brass coated primer, plugging the firing pin hole.

The price is nice on them and I'm a Ruger fan, so that's what pointed me in that direction. My current CCW is a 3" model 60-15 Smith and Wesson .357. I want to have a second carry gun in 9mm. I like the 10 round double stack compact/sub compacts , especially since I'm in a 10 round state.

My LGS does have a few new SR9's on clearance for $299. My dad picked one up but have yet to shoot it. They seem like a nice gun and it feels pretty good in the hand. It's nice and slim, but a bit bigger than I'd want for CCW. But still tempting at that price. I've CCW a full size 1911 a few times and found it to big and uncomfortable. The sr9 is smaller but still pushing it, and it stinks they are discontinued .

Anyways sorry about the long winded post appreciate the input.

I have a SR9 Compact. I sold my G26 after buying it. Mine is amazingly accurate, right with my full size Glocks and I shoot it a lot better than I did the smaller G26 or G43. I replaced the G43 with the Ruger LC9s. Both of those Rugers are way more accurate than a sub $300 gun should be. I don't think either of the budget Rugers are intended for years of high volume shooting. But for carrying and putting a few rounds through them every month just to stay in practice I believe they will be fine.

I just can't say about the Security 9, but I'm betting they are very similar to the SR9. You might want to look at the LC9s or EC9s for carry. It comes with a 7 round single stack magazine, but extended 10 rounders are available. Price locally for the EC9s is about $250. That is the gun that gets carried more than any other that I own.

I have the 'full' size original Security 9. It has been a great gun. Only have around 750 rounds through it without a single hiccup.

Is the Compact not hammer fired like the original?

The single stacks are not a bad idea but
I handled the lc9s before and found it just too skinny for my liking, the shield kinda felt like that too. But that's to be expected with single stacks i guess. I do like the feel of the Walther pps m2 though. I also handled the p365 a while ago and it wasn't to bad, price was higher than I care to pay. I'm trying to stay sub 400 , not against used guns either.

Glad to hear your sr9 compact has been such a good shooter!

I have a Security 9, and I will say it's a very comfortable gun.
My sister in law shot it, and she has problems with her hands, but she loved it and shot it well.
It's very accurate and easy to shoot.
Thinking about buying another one.

The son of a friend of mine has a Security 9 and likes it a lot. So far so good as the saying goes. I tried one for size but found it a bit larger than I thought it would be. If I were in the market for a compact 9mm. I would probably be looking at the Security 9 Compact Model.

As it is I'm quite content with my SR9c. Extremely ergonomic (at least for my small size hand), possessing the best trigger I have ever found (so far), on a striker fired pistol, excellent sights that come up on target quickly and easily, and just an overall well built design with a lot of attention to the details. And it comes standard with a 10 round magazine (got to say though that I love the 17 round spare that comes with it too).

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for an sr9c. Should shoot the LGS manager a text and see if he's got one.

I've always wanted one of those, just never got around to grabbing one.

No contest, get the SR9C, Just bought 4 more 17 rd. mags for mine. Probably one of the best deals going now. Mine is a solid performer. Made to last a long time with a lot of shooting time.
I'll have to keep my eyes out for a used one. I think all they have are the full size ones at the LGS I deal with. It's a bummer Ruger did away with them.:(

Why DID Ruger do away with the SR series?
My SR9 is a great pistol. Guess I need to see about getting a spare and an SR9 compact and an SR45.

I like what I've seen about he Security 9, but as with others I'll never replace my SR9c with one.
If I ever need another gun in that category, the Security 9 is a top five choice.

I traded into a new security 9- a local guy wanted my beat up Marlin 30-30. I shot a box through the security 9, and it worked fine. Ithink its a better gun than the S&W SD. A week later, a friend offered to grind 6 big stumps in my yard for free. I gave him the pistol as a tip. I got a SR9 for my dad, which I also fired. It's not a bad gun at all either.

I don't have a Security 9, but I do have a SR40 and 9E, both very nice shooters. Both of mine have manual safeties and I'm not a fan of manual safeties on striker-fired pistols, but they are so unobtrusive and low profile, I hardly remember they're there.
