It's been said to shoot what you carry. With more sub compacts, pocket pistols and micros out there, I've been reading more people shooting them regularly instead of carrying lots shooting little. Would like to hear from those folks who are shooting them frequently, what they are using, caliber used, and how they are holding up. Hopefully this is something that can be updated as it goes along. Ask that this thread be kept focused on sub compact, pocket pistols and micros.

I'll start with my newest- a Walther PPS M2 LE 9mm I picked up two weeks ago or so. I've put 290 rounds through it on the first outing, everything worked fine.

I shoot my S&W Shield 9mm a couple times a month. I have roughly 3500 rounds through it, and most of them my reloads. No issues, no jams, no failures, and nothing replaced yet. Thinking of replacing the recoil springs soon as PM.

Sig P365 9mm
Manufactured 2/19
2600+ rounds
All reloads, the vast majority 124 and 147 gr JHP loaded to the high end of standard pressure but not +P.
As posted elsewhere 1 FTE that could possibly be the gun and not me or my ammo.
I have cleaned it 3 or 4 times and all parts are original. Ordered a new recoil spring but will keep shooting with the original until it fails.
A very nice shooter for such a small gun but after 3-4 hundred rounds in a day I can feel it.

Just approximations since I don't keep track

Sig P365- 1000
S&W Shield .40- 1000
Kaltek P3-AT- 500

The Sig is the new favorite. It is new this year and comes with me almost every range trip.

The Shield is my carry gun before I got the Sig. It sits most of the time now but I still shoot it from time to time to keep proficient.

The P3-At was my first carry gun and my only really deep concealment gun. I shoot it occasionally, but 50 rounds through it will hurt your hand because the grip is so small. Not all that much fun for a range gun and will be a long long time before it has a high round count.

I shoot weekly, but my CCW pistol (shield 9) gets a box through it a few times a year, to keep me honest. never had any problems executing the same drills in about the same time as I do with the Glocks that are shot much more frequently.

G-42; a couple of hundred rounds without a problem. It was an early production model that was "updated" by Glock. I have tried several brands and bullet types with great success.

My Smith 43c 22lr revolver is fired several times a month, between 50 and 100 rounds each session. I usually shoot CCI mini-mags. I try to remain proficient with my carry guns, even the little pocket gun.

I do not anticipate it wearing out in my lifetime.

My goal is run a couple of mags through my CC guns once a month, since I shoot in the backyard sometimes weather effects that schedule.

G23, Shield9, LCP usually it’s about 25 rounds thru each gun.

One of a number of my third gen S&W's, all with the same controls, is my normal carry and truck gun, but my fav is a 6904. It's the compact, and that one ALWAYS gets range time when I go, or gets a few mags a month in the yard. The 69xx are 12 rounders, the full size 59xx series are 15/17/20, or only 10 rounders, depending on the era of the magazines.

• S&W Shield .40 with safety <500 rds its entire life span.
• Walther PPS Mod 1 9mm that gets shot every time I go (about every other week) for at least 100 rounds. I’ve owned that particular PPS Model 1 3 years (I had another one before). A calculator brings me to 7,800 rds. Sometimes I go once a week though and sometimes I skip a week. That’s just an average.

No issues with either one. I can’t recall a single malfunction with either. I typically shoot one mag of JHP’s (the one it’s been loaded with, typically Hornady 124 grain that I can get cheap at GT Dist) and then Winchester white box 115 grain bulk.

My little lcp original gets carried most often of my ccw guns. It took quite a bit of shooting to get proficient, but I did. It is reliable and accurate. The only hiccups have been ammo related.
I like it so well in this role that I finally bought one for my wife.
I would estimate around 700 rds. Yes, I know that's not very many.

I started off shooting the small guns on a Regular basis about 10 years ago I shoot Pocket guns, Micro 9mm and Snubbies each week. I first had a number of LCP's and the first one fell apart at about 2,200 rds. Others would do the same, and I learned to watch for cracks as early as 1,000 -1500 rds. I have two Pico's that have so many rounds fired through them, I actually have no idea. The one I use most at the range, I stopped counting a long time ago at 2500 rds. I shoot a Nano on a regular basis. For that gun, I stopped counting rds at 5,000 and that was a about a year ago when I fist received it. I shot it very heavily for the fist 6 months. I have had other guns, a Sheild a very long time ago, Ruger LC9 and LC9s etc. And about 4 years ago, started shooting the LCR9mm with a lot of ammo. Never counted how many rounds through that little snubbie, but quite a lot.
I go to the range often, but really do not like shooting larger guns. Well, not dislike, but for myself, just not as much fun. I like the challenge of the small little pistols.
Also enjoy the Kahr CW 380 and about a month ago, purchased the Kahr CM9mm and last week finished putting 400 rds through it.
Below my Present small guns, need to add the new Kahr.to the list. And will be ordering the NEW APX Carry soon. Which is just a upgraded Nano.

Getting ready to leave for work. I might change my Pic back later. Saw that and Liked it. I had cracks in the Polymer grips, one in the chassis and had split rails. I use to have pics, will look for them later. I had one crack all the way down the magazine well. The good part is Ruger kept replacing the guns. So in essence not a worry. I still have a LCP Gen 2.
The other good news was the fact that they were all reliable and ate most anything other than Winchester White Box. Early models did not like hollow points.

Ive been practicing with duplicates of the two guns I normally carry, a Glock 17 and 26. Both bought new back in late 08, early 09. Been shooting them weekly (17) and bi weekly (26) for about 10 years now. The 17 gets between 300-500 rounds a week through it, and the 26 around 100 rounds every other week. Last count on the 17 was a little over 140,000 rounds, and the 26 was right around 26,000 rounds. The counts are based on 300 a week and 100 twice a month. Sometimes with both, there are/were more, but never less. So in reality, the counts are really a little light.

The only thing Ive had break, have been 2 trigger return springs on the 17. One around 90,000, the other around 120,000. The only other thing I regularly replace on both, are the RSA's twice a year or so.

I used to carry all sorts of smaller guns as back ups for years before I finally realized I could carry a 26 in the same places I carried them. While I usually shot them a couple of times a month like the 26, I never really kept any kind of count. Other than these two pistols, Ive never really ever kept any kind of real accurate count on anything in the past. Although I know Ive had a few that Im pretty sure passed the 17 by a good bit.

Ive just been keeping track of these two, since Im always shooting them and its pretty easy to do so. I shoot a number of random things during the week too, just dont bother to keep track.

I used to keep track of all my reloads over the year too for a few years when I first started, but it just got to be a PITA and I said screw it. I load "something", basically every day, and it just got old.

I'm shooting my xde until it goes boing. It is just a hunk of plastic and metal. They make more and I have a few more but why worry about how many rds. are thru it, just shoot it and stop being concerned about small things. My opinion.

Those are some impressive numbers, especially with so few parts replaced.

LC9-8000 third spring set
S&W mod 10- 200,000 was rebuilt in 2009 at 180,000
FN-10,000 second spring set, second extractor

Yea, Ive been pretty impressed. They are the proverbial Energizer Bunny of handguns. :)

Even with that spring broken, the gun will actually still function too, as long as you hold the reset when youre shooting, or let the slide go forward. On the odd chance, it ever happens to you in a bad spot. :)

RSA?
Recoil spring assy?
Yup recoil spring assembly.

One thing nice about the Glocks is, they are easy to work on yourself (not that changing out a RSA is hard to do), and parts are cheap and readily available. All you really need to work on the gun, is a punch, or one of their takedown tools, which is just a punch.

Interesting to see your post on the Glock 26. For myself, the one gun that I think will hit some serious high round count will be my Beretta Nano. Like the Glock it has few parts and a serious build quality. Actually over built. I stopped counting at 5,000, But typically will buy a bulk 1,000 rds for each gun. Easier to keep track of rounds. I am going to go back and look at my orders and try and get a close count and maybe start counting to see how far this gun will go. Even though I will get the new model, this one will be the range gun. I buy Gallaway recoil springs and guide rods about 3 or 4 at a time. I change them out between 2,000 and 2,200 rounds and have replaced 4 of them. So that gives me a idea. They may be able to go further than the 2500 rds Gallaway estimated, but I just consider it part of routine maintenance . I do this with all my semi autos. First thing I buy is more magazines and recoil springs and guide rods. Already ordered two recoil springs for the New Kahr.

Taurus TCP with SS slide: 1000 rounds, no +P, internals fell apart. Trigger started releasing sear at weird points, then trigger bushing broke. Sent back to Taurus and 2 weeks later had the gun back with an all-new fire control group. Have yet to get it to the range again. It's very accurate and I shoot it well, and I'd hate to foist it on someonei like, so I keep it.

I just use the factory Glock RSA's. The Gen 2 & 3's 17 springs are around $8, the 26's are the double spring set up like the Gen 4's, and about twice the cost of the 17's.

I think the 17s are supposed to be good for around 7500 rounds. Not exactly sure about the 26's, but Im thinking they are around 5000.

P 938, I guess I have around 500 to 600 rounds through it. It is going back to Sig because it started to drop the 7 round magazine.
