Has anyone had experience dealing with transfer of firearms after death? We will have a professional personal rep. Does she need to have background check while in "possession" of my safe and firearms? How to navigate the maze of laws?

Yes, but my experience in Wyoming has no relevance to how things are done in Oregon. Best that you find an estate attorney familiar with Oregon firearm laws. That may not be easy, but you will get better advice than you will from random people on the internet. On second thought, there may be someone on this forum who has gone through the process in Oregon. I'd still recommend a lawyer.

Guy - what Coyote says is correct. Each state is different. Where you will have your biggest headache is if any people you want to have these firearms live out of state. In that situation, the firearm would have to be shipped to an FFL in their state and they would have to go through that state's rigamarole.

This, absolutely this. OR has gone through a number of legal changes in the last few years, and I suspect it has gone through many more that I don't even know about.

There's really no point in continuing this. The OP appears to be in Oregon, but it's possible he might move. His beneficiaries might be in Oregon or anywhere else, now or later.

The OP needs his own lawyer.
