I don't have any Smithies or Wheelies. I do however have a few Smith and Wesson revolvers.

I also don't carry and don't get out into the woods much these days.

However, if I wuz going to I would probably pop this Model 36 Flat Latch from 1961 into my pocket.

Or perhaps this Model 60 from 1975.

Or maybe this Model 63 22/32 Kit Gun from 1980. They called them Kit Guns because they were small enough to pop into your fishing 'kit' (tackle box)

Or maybe a 38S&W Regulation Police from 1924 (at the top)

Or a 32 Regulation Police from, also from 1924 (at the bottom)

Or maybe a K 22 Combat Masterpiece from 1953.

Or maybe it's big brother, a K 38 Combat Masterpiece, also from 1953.

Or maybe I'd get all nostalgic and grab an old Top Break 38 Double Action or 32 Double Action. The 38 is from 1898, I'm not sure when the 32 left the factory.

Or maybe I'd grab a Baby Russian from 1876.

Or maybe a 32 Single Action from 1889.

Or maybe a Bicycle Revolver from from 1909.

So many to choose from.

I'm going to guess I was twelve or thirteen when I heard Bill Jordan speak. If memory serves me right he had retired and was working for the NRA. Anyway, he came and gave a talk to all of my boy scout troop about gun safety and sport shooting. Coming from a military/police family I knew who he was and what his reputation was. I also read everything I could get my hands on about shooting. I had been bitten by the bug. One of the things he spoke to was his favorite style of grip for a revolver, his preferred handgun. He also briefly talked about working with Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton on a new "magnum" but didn't divulge that it was the .41 mag.

I believe that was the first time I heard the terms "Smithie and Wheelie" come out of someones mouth to describe a "Smith & Wesson" revolver. To those offended by the terms or who've never heard them, the old timers used them in conversation quit a bit.

Having used S&W revolvers for a half century or so, I thought I'd heard them all. But I learned a name for them I'd never heard before, "Smithies". I'd heard Smith and Western, but Smithies is a new one to meo_O

What about Smiffs? There is also Massblasta. I have heard Smiff and Western.

Years here too !
First one I owned was a Model 34 given to me when I turned 21 by an uncle. First one I bought was a model 37 3" I bought in Monterey Calif when 22 . I recently gave it to my Daughter in law a few years ago..

Got to love these threads. I don't mess around with S&W revolvers.

Only the best for me or I don't buy them...I don't do locks. I don't do MIM parts. I barely do model numbers and if it doesn't have a pinned barrel, I have nothing to do with it.

Smithies and Wheelies?
If I correctly translated that into English, I think it means Smith & Wesson Revolvers.

You sir are a Master of Understatement!

Absolutely awesome collection! Thanks for sharing!

I can live with that!

An outstanding (and positively stunning), collection of S&W revolvers!

Love the 1938 Registered Magnum!
