Ordered a bunch on Black Friday.
Postal Lady said at first she wasn't sure what it was, but,,,, the guys 'in the back' at the postal department certainly had no doubt,,,

I have bought and sold lead in flat rate boxes and tested their weight limit. You get odd looks at the post office. lol

You get equally weird looks when you hand a small flat rate box to the clerk and you've stuffed 18 pounds of lead ingots in that tiny thing. That's fun too.

Paul funny you mention that.
I sold a guy in Alaska 68lb of lead. Built a plywood box nailed and glued with 68 lb of lead the exact size of a USPS priority medium flat rate box. Covered the wood box with glue put it in the flat rate box stapled it to the wood box then tape. No problem except for the old guy trying to open it.

when i worked for ups, i did not mined the heavy stuff. if anything it slowed you down to relax some. but would not stand those dang chewy's dog, during the holidays some times i would have 25,000 items a day. dealing with dog food and there odd packeting sucked. for weeks i would say who buys dog food online?

Dan likes me and guns. We have an understanding that for the heavy stuff he comes down the driveway and leaves it by the garage door. If I know it's coming I'll meet him at the mail box with a dolly. We get along great.

My carrier put a medium flat rate box of bullets (43 pounds) into my mail box and slid it all of the way to the back. I had to use a knife to cut finger holes into the box to get a place to grip it to pull it out. Also broke the decorative metal post. I now have a nice 4x4 mailbox post set in concrete.

My USPS local sucks donkey balls. Anytime there's a pkg. over 30lbs, they refuse to deliver and leave a pick up ticket for me. I always ask for a shipping credit when I am in their office since they refuse to do their job, talk about dirty looks. I have one there now they are refusing to deliver, even though I've asked if there was anything special about the delivery ie; Signature required, postage due etc... ("No" is the answer I received). It meets all their guidelines and is within their weight limits, they still won't deliver to me.

Wish I could refuse to do parts of my job I didn't want to do and still stay employed. o_O

Before I switched jobs, I had the bullets go to where I worked. Normally the postal guy would bring the boxes to the door, but one time he stuffed two boxes of bullets into the mailbox, a total of 120 lbs. I had to do a little digging to get those out.

I don't really have the option to have things like that shipped to where I work now, so I have them delivered to the house. The postal lady will back up to the house and ask for help. Last time it happened, I wasn't there and my wife had to do it. If my wife didn't also love to shoot, she would probably hate me, too. :)

Last shipment from Acme bullets. the post office called and made me come down to the Post office. they thought it was live ammo.

Get a .gov job...

When X-Treme bullets was still taking in brass for recycling and credit I would take 70lb boxes in to the Post Office and put them on the counter. Always offered to take them in the back for them but I think it embarrassed them that a 70 year old guy was able to carry it and they had to get a hand truck.

These days I get my bullets sent to me via UPS or FedX and I'm always waiting at the road side with a hand truck. They seem to appreciate it.

Have you seen pictures of the loading/shipping dept at RMR? Big ole boy working there. Jake, do you charge him a gym fee? Was he that big before he started working there?

I’ll get an occasional dirty look from fill-in mail carriers... but my regular guy knows I get a lot of ammo-related stuff and he is way cool about it.

Same with Eric, my UPS guy.

Stay safe!

You guys are lucky. My mail(wo)man stopped delivering bullet orders to my house! Now she just leaves a little note in our mailbox to pick up a package at the post office; written reason - "heavy".

I like to have bullets delivered to my work. That way the cute little office assistant that sorts the mail brings them to my cube. When she brings them in, sweat beads popping out on her forehead, and panting "Where can I put this ?"

I always tell her, "Hold on, I'm on the phone", even when I'm obviously just watching her.

She always throws them on my desk. And then the next thing out is, "What's in that box ?"

To which I always reply, "Fan mail".
