Has anyone else herd if Mossberg is discontinuing or already discontinued the Mossberg MVP LR .223 Remington/5.56 NATO Bolt-Action Riflen And/or MVP LR .308 Winchester/7.62 NATO Bolt-Action Rifle?

Contacted gun dealer looking for one and they said it's being discontinued but they had some. If being discontinued does anyone know why? And if they are making something better?

Nothing more then a semi-educated guess here, but I’ll opine it’s a lack of demand.

The absolute glut of lower priced AR 10 and 15 rifles has completely swamped the need for a bolt action “patrol” rifle. Agencies far and wide adopted semi-autos, even the previously liberal or gun-hating locales the “patrol” pump (Rem) and bolt guns were aiming at.... and civilians flocked to the AR in droves.

It’s a great and handy rifle, but it’s just not sexy enough to maintain the glow.

Stay safe!

Mossberg still shows the LR models as current, and several wholesale distributors have them on stock. There are a few MVP models that have been discontinued as new models were introduced in the last few years.

Have you called Mossberg to ask? The best info can often be found by looking straight to the horse’s mouth.
